Liverpool using former world swimming champion's 'secret drink'

From overhauling Liverpool's nutritional intake and employing a throw-in coach, Jurgen Klopp will leave no stone unturned in his bid to bring success to Liverpool.

A new development reveals that the German is also using a special drink developed by a former world swimming champion to give his side a further edge.

Mark Warnecke, who at 35 became the oldest person to win a swimming world title since since 1971 in 2005, has created two special mineral drinks for the Premier League leaders.

The drinks, one citron and one orange, will 'significantly speed up regeneration after exercise' according to SportBild.

The German publication claims he has accepted a proposal to work with the club's nutritionist Mona Nemmer, who joined alongside fitness coach Andreas Kornmayer in 2016.

Nemmer, formerly of Bayern Munich, is 'the best nutritionist ever', according to the drink specialist.

Warnecke's creations helped found AMSPORT, who research, develop and produce nutritional supplements and ergogenic aids for elite athletes.

Swimmer Dara Torres came out of retirement after having a child and made her best times for 20 years at the age of 41, thanks to the help of Warnecke.

The dramatic improvement led to suggestions of doping, but Torres volunteered for extra tests to help keep her name clean.

Liverpool, who have made a perfect start with six wins from six in the league, host Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

They then travel to Stamford Bridge at the weekend aiming to preserve their 100 per cent start to the 2018-19 campaign.
