Liverpool will host Brighton in their third Premier League game of the season on Saturday, with both sides having momentum of recent wins on their side.

Jurgen Klopp's men made it two wins out of two fixtures played so far following a 2-0 win away at Crystal Palace on Monday, while the Seagulls will still be riding high from their surprise 3-2 victory over Manchester United.

The Reds are the only side yet to concede a goal and will want to register an emphatic win over Brighton if they are to challenge Manchester City for the title.

Joel Matip could return to the side following an extended time out on the sidelines due to injury, returning to centre-back duty at the expense of Joe Gomez.

Croatia international Dejan Lovren is not expected to take part in the fixture against Brighton due to injury, with Klopp confirming that he will only be making a full return to fitness following next month's international break.

Match Preview

James Milner was the unlikely penalty hero at Selhurst Park when he converted from the spot at the closing stages of the first half. Liverpool's deadly front trio struggled to break down a staunch Crystal Palace side for the majority of the game, with only Sadio Mane managing to find the back of the net at the end of the 90 minutes to win 2-0.

Mohamed Salah is expected to bounce back after his inability to score against the Eagles, though he won the penalty for Milner and also provided the assist for his Senegalese team-mate.

The Reds won comfortably over Brighton both home and away last season, winning 5-1 at the Amex and following it up with an emphatic 4-0 win at home to close out the Premier League campaign.

New goalkeeper Alisson is the only shot-stopper to have kept two clean sheets in the opening two games of the season. Captain Jordan Henderson will be eager to make his way back into the first-team following his return to match fitness after an extended post-World Cup holiday, potentially usurping either Gini Wijnaldum or Milner in midfield.

Klopp, however, named an unchanged side to face Palace following the victory over West Ham and could be inclined to do so once again.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton will no doubt be rejuvenated by his side's victorious display against Manchester United when they ran out unlikely winners, giving Mourinho's side their first defeat of the season.

The Seagulls lost 2-0 to Watford on opening day but managed to recuperate in time to beat the Red Devils, and will be expected to show a similar lack of mercy when they face Klopp's men.
