On Wednesday night, Liverpool host Villarreal in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final. The Yellow Submarine, reigning Europa League champions, have been the surprise package of this year's tournament after impressive wins over Juventus and Bayern Munich and they will face yet another stern test at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp's men, meanwhile, were among the pre-tournament favourites and will be hoping to return to the final for the first time since winning it all in 2019.
Both teams should go into this big occasion high on confidence after beating local rivals last time out and being in good form generally. Since the quarter-finals, Liverpool have beaten Manchester City, Manchester United and Everton. Unai Emery's side, meanwhile, have won back-to-back LaLiga Santander games against Getafe and Valencia.
Villarreal will likely have to do without star striker Gerard Moreno, however, although he may make a comeback for the second leg, and former Liverpool full-back Alberto Moreno remains on the sidelines. For the home side, Roberto Firmino is the only major doubt.
