Liverpool could have secured qualification into the Champions League knockout rounds by beating Napoli at Anfield on Wednesday night.
However, the Reds only managed to come away with a 1-1 draw against the Italian giants after Dejan Lovren cancelled out Dries Mertens' opener.
That result meant Jurgen Klopp's side remained top of Group E with 10 points while Napoli sit in second one point behind and RB Salzburg, who Liverpool will play in their final group match, lie in third on seven points after beating bottom-place Genk.
With one game left to play three sides can still qualify out of the group and here are all the permutations that would see Liverpool progress into the knockout stages.
Firstly, if the Reds beat Salzburg they will finish as group winners.
If both sides come away with a point in the final group game Liverpool will still qualify but where they place will depend on Napoli's result with Genk.
Should Napoli beat Genk and Liverpool draw with Salzburg, Carlo Ancelotti's side will finish top of the group and the Reds will qualify in second while if both games end in a draw Klopp's men will finish top.
And if Liverpool lose to Salzburg they can still qualify too - but only by scoring four away goals or more and only losing by one goal. A 5-4 defeat, for example.
If the Reds get beaten both sides will finish on 10 points and the way Champions League group qualification works, should both teams finish level on points is, points gained in head-to head matches, goal difference from head-to-head matches, higher number of goals scored in head-to-head matches and then higher number of away goals scored in head-to-head matches, in that order to determine ranking one after the other.
The likes of PSG, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Barcelona are already guaranteed top spot in their respective groups so Liverpool securing first will mean they delay a potential match-up with one of the European giants.
But simply any result for Liverpool against Salzburg means they will qualify.

bro your comment is illogical and the winner is still to be decided..Apart from that you can check what messi did the whole season. Both Van Dijk and Messi deserve the award because they both were beasts.
liverpool won at anfield by scoring 4 goals against zels 3 scoring3 goals. liverpool must either win or draw to qualify. if liverpool loose to zels then they should score by one goal less, otherwise head-head goals scored visa-viz conceaded goals will rule out. liverpool should not approach game like they did against Napol or zels games. i think Ox should be given match start, shaq i guess will phenoeminal, so with the attacking qualitily we saw from zels attacking strategy mr klop should not give room to them. they are at home and a very good at their home drawing Napoli and beating genk. we should be worry and not take this side lightly

Premier League is our priority this season. It'll be great if we add CWC and EUROPA cup if we're relegated to EUROPA league.

Liverpool won only 3 matches in group stage last season n they were Champions. Let's wait till end of the season then we can judge, they are so many fixtures to be played across all competitions therefore u can't be players can't give 100% in all matches e Bcos they will prone to injuries
Exactly and dat is y u can't compare UCL to league in my own opinion league is more difficult.in UCL u don't have to play all d team to win the trophy unlike league.Liverpool weakness are Italian teams if Liverpool face conte inter or juv or Napoli or even Atalanta in champions league dey will definitely struggle or even be defeated but still dey won d UCL

Liverpool's CL performances are not good enough when compare to their EPL performances. I don't know why but there are many differences in their performance.
