Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Julen Lopetegui to succeed Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford if the Dutchman is sacked.
Despite recently being named Premier League Manager of the Month after leading United to three consecutive victories without conceding in November, Ten Hag's position at the club appears increasingly tenuous.
Bournemouth secured their first ever win at Old Trafford last weekend, before the club were dumped out of Europe after finishing bottom of Group A in their return to the Champions League with just one win six.
Liverpool currently sit ten points clear of United at the top of the Premier League table, and Sunday's visit to Anfield could prove to have significant ramifications for Ten Hag's future at the club.
According to reports from Spanish publication Relevo, the club are already eyeing a replacement should the hammer fall in the coming days.
Former Spain boss Lopetegui is said to be 'highly-rated' by United and is 'well positioned' to become the club's sixth permanent boss following Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement after 27 years in charge just over a decade ago.
The report also claims that Lopetegui refused an offer worth £15.5m a year to become the latest high-profile manager to take charge of a club in the Saudi Pro League, with the 57-year-old said to desire a return to the Premier League.
Lopetegui departed Wolves in August after nine months in charge of the East-Midlands club, agreeing a seven-figure compensation package to leave just three days before the start of the Premier League season after relations between the Spaniard and the club's owners deteriorated over transfer policy.
After arriving with the club perched perilously in the relegation zone, Lopetegui would inspire a revival following the winter break for the World Cup that saw Wolves achieve a 13th-placed finish, seven points clear of the drop.
Lopetegui later explained that his departure from Molineux left him in tears, and that the environment created during his short time at the club was 'special'.

Facts. Everyone pointing fingers at Ten Hag but no one sees what he walked into at United..... Ole kept United in a good position they didnt listen when Ole and Rangnick said sign Haaland Diaz Vlahovic etc no one listened ... All those players are thriving so yes Bro what you saying is true we can bring the worlds best coach and still be inconsistent

Our problem is not coaches, our problem are the management board, no structure and it makes the players lazy, how many mangers are we going to be sacking every second season of there time. Ten hag is the best out of them because this players need a discipline coach like Ten hag.
