Lucas Leiva won Lazio's Player of the Year for the second year in a row raising suspicions that the fans of his former club Liverpool hijacked the poll.

The Brazilian was a popular Anfield figure and it appears Reds supporters are continuing to back the ex-Reds man.

Lucas, who left in 2017 to join Lazio in a £5million deal, won the award with 94% of the votes.

In the 2017-18 season Lucas earned 71% of the vote to win the same honour.

The 32-year-old came through the semi-final of the vote this season against Felipe Caidedo and Sergej Mikinkovic with 88% of the votes.

Lucas pipped Francesco Acerbi in the final after 27,000 votes were casted.

The Lazio midfielder made 36 appearances last season without scoring a goal for his side.

He did, however set up five for his team-mates but did pick up 10 yellow cards during the course of the campaign.

Lucas was at Liverpool for 10 years making over 200 appearances for the Merseyside club.
