Spain must beat Germany tomorrow to book their place in the Nations League Final Four and coach Luis Enrique says he prefers it that way.
Luis Enrique faced the media ahead of tomorrow's make-or-break meeting with Germany in Seville - a game his team must win to book their place at next year's Nations League finals.
Realising a Switzerland player had been sent off: "It couldn't be further from the truth. I heard the first part of the question but not the second part. I didn't hear it - and nor did Pablo, that's all".
Sergio Ramos: "I don't know if Sergio Ramos is the best penalty taker in the world. All I d is what every coach does, and that is to defend my players. This is the national team and we are subject to criticism. Sergio's career has been astonishing, there is no doubt about that at all. Ramos has more than enough experience to handle his personal situation - dealing with contract renewals is something that every player has to do during their professional lives and he knows how to manage that".
Busquets: "I really appreciate Busquets, who has stayed with us even though he could have returned home. He can't play tomorrow, but he's decided to stay rather than leave - in spite of ur insistence - that says a little about the atmosphere among the squad".
Contract renewals: "If any players have sufficient experience in dealing with their personal issues it's Ramos, Busquets, Koke... the older players. Ramos seems the same to me now as he did on our first day with the national team, with the same drive and determination to win".
Pressure: "What Sergio Ramos is going through is perfectly normal - it's what you expect with a player of his profile, big name players. They have to deal with issues all the time - one thing or another, its normal. For a national team coach at this level, you need to accept that it's part of the game".
De Gea: "I have already decided on the goalkeeper, providing nothing untoward happens in training. I won't announce who will be in goal until an hour and a half before kick-off. I don't know what will happen in the future - I'd love to have several options in goal. I just think that goalkeepers need to be ready to help out on and off the field - just like all of the other players".
Germany: "The idea is the same, give or take a few details. When we played them in Germany, we set out to win the game and we are up against one of the strongest national teams in the world. It's almost better for us that we have to beat them, at least we know that is the only outcome that will suit us. That means pressing in their half, pressing as soon as we lose the ball, and linking up well. After that, we'll try to be effective in front of goal".

As much as he is a very good CB, and that no one is above mistakes...he makes some very critical ones that have very damaging effects. Recall the Euro 2016 against Croatia, he lost a penalty that went on to become the u doing of Spain in that competition. Imagine if there was no equaliser against Switzerland, then Spain is out of the finals. As it is now, if Spain should get anything less than a win, it's over....but that wouldn't have been the case if they had won against Switzerland. I feel he needs to exhibit emotional intelligence...know when to let others have their say. You don't have to do it all the time because you think you are a the captain.
You can point out mistakes to any player like this. But he is doing it for more than decade. He is like Ronaldo and Messi of our era. He is hands down the best CB in last 20 odd years and would be counted in best 5 CBs in world.

Missing two penalties doesn't make Ramos the poorest player for even a single match. In real life we do mistakes but we don't let our mistakes control us but we do conquer them so that we can move on. So he is willing to play and also take penalties until he can't play more so let him his peace of mind so that he can think os what is ahead of him. And don't forget that he is also a legend and will remain in ur minds I mean haters. Salute him for once. Withall due respect.

That's probably Enrique's way of saying, I'm about to drop him, at least from taking penalties. One thing with Enrique, he sees a problem, he fixes it...ask Alba.
