Lukaku reveals who is the fastest player in Man Utd squad

It is surely something that is settled with races on training grounds around the world week-in, week-out, but just who is the fastest player at your football club?

In this age of increasingly sophisticated ways to monitor player performance, then all elite clubs will know just which of their players they can rely on when it comes to sprints.

And Manchester United will be no different.

Which is why when Romelu Lukaku was asked the question of who is the quickest player at the club on United's official Instagram account, you can be pretty sure that he'll have the evidence to back up his answer.

And that answer?

Well it's him, of course.

Looking a little sheepish as he offers his reply, Lukaku simply raises his hand and smiles, before adding: "And people call me slow!"

And what's more, the Belgian forward is right. At least when it comes to last season anyway.

Lukaku recorded United's quickest sprint of 34.84km/h in the 2017/18 campaign, and was responsible for three of the club's five quickest on-pitch sprints.

The forward has been ruled out of this week's Euro 2020 qualifiers with Belgium because of a foot injury, but United will hope to have him back for Saturday's Premier League match at home to Watford .
