MU 2026/27 home kit 'leaked' as Adidas revives retro design with classic twist

Manchester United's 2026/27 home kit has reportedly been leaked online, with Adidas supposedly reviving a classic design from more than 50 years ago

Supporters hoping to catch a first look at next season's Manchester United home kit have been handed an early preview. And those with a fondness for nostalgia will be thrilled by Adidas' rumoured design direction.

As the club gears up for what is expected to be its return to the Champions League, the moment demands a striking, new look. Accordingly, Adidas' reported creation appears suited to the occasion and should satisfy a great deal of the fanbase.

Opaleak has published images featuring a model wearing the alleged home kit for 2026/27. Most strikingly, the photographs reveal United could be returning to a traditional collared style reminiscent of the vintage Admiral strips worn during the 1970s.

Moving away from the 2025/26 version, this latest release swaps black shoulder sleeve stripes for white. The leaked images display considerably more white than black overall, though the legendary colour combination remains largely unchanged.

Another striking feature is the striped sleeve and collar cuffs. Once more, this echoes the same Admiral kit worn at Old Trafford throughout much of the late 1970s, just prior to Ron Atkinson leading the side to two FA Cups during his five-year spell.

Michael Carrick will be hoping the change of strip helps spark a similar revival in United's title ambitions. This marks the second successive season in which United will fall short of any major silverware, and the first in four years without so much as a final to show for their efforts.

Yet the outlook is increasingly promising in what many are daring to believe could be the dawn of a new era. Carrick has refused to publicly lobby for the permanent job at Old Trafford, though a significant portion of the fanbase is willing him to receive the green light from Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

United have the opportunity to move three points clear in third place when they welcome Brentford on Monday evening. The club knows a top-five finish will be enough to secure a spot in next season's Champions League, with eight points currently separating fifth from sixth place.

Aston Villa's defeat at Fulham on Saturday could work in United's favour should they capitalise by seeing off the Bees. Meanwhile, Liverpool are gathering momentum after drawing level on points with a third consecutive league victory against Crystal Palace.

A kit that supporters can genuinely connect with feels fitting for the beginning of a fresh chapter. And if these latest leaked images accurately reflect what Adidas has in store, many fans will at least feel the squad is dressed for the occasion as they look to mount a return to title contention.
