Manchester United and Arsenal have been handed a major transfer boost as in demand striker Jonathan David has revealed he will leave Lille this summer.
The Canadian forward, who has scored 25 goals in 48 appearances this season, will be available for free once his contract expires at the end of June.
'Every story has a beginning and an end,' the striker said in a video posted on Instagram.
'I wanted to tell you myself that, after many years at the club, it is time for me to say goodbye.'
David's impending departure will see a number of Premier League clubs on high alert.
Ruben Amorim's side are in desperate need of a goalscorer, having only scored 42 times in the Premier League this season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also in the market after suffering an injury crisis which has left them short in attack.
Newcastle, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool are also reportedly interested in signing the Canadian, while Napoli are already in advanced talks over a move.
David joined Lille from Belgian side Gent in 2020 and has scored 109 goals in 231 games.
He won the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21, the club's first victory in a decade and the only time it has eluded Paris Saint-Germain in the last eight seasons.
The 25-year-old has represented Canada 61 times, bagging 32 goals.
He will play his final game for Lille against Reims on Saturday in their last league fixture of the campaign.
The forward previously said his preferred destination would be Spain.
Speaking to the It's Called Soccer podcast, he said: 'I think I can adapt to every league. Every league has its differences.
'The Premier League is a lot faster and more physical than all of the other leagues. But for me, I grew up watching a lot of La Liga and for me, that would be my preferred league.
'That is the league that I enjoyed watching the most so one day I would like to play there.'
Manchester United are also believed to be in prime position to sign Ipswich striker Liam Delap, and are keen to make a move for Wolves star Matheus Cunha.
While Arsenal have been linked with Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

Manchester should be uprooting trees to get this type of striker considering he will bring goals, he’s coming in free, has experience, he’s an international player and will complement the fact we need atleast 4 strikers to avoid relegation next season and possibly play in the champions league (all things being equal).
all players are international 🤣 even Indians

If a player like Delap is having cold feet’s signing for Man Utd and homegrown players such as Rashford are bailing out of their club, the execs should extend their recruitment drive to getting players that are proven

If INEOS, ratcliffe and the other boardroom mumus know anything about football, they should be on the plane to begging Jonathan David to sign for Manchester United cos not many players will want to commit to the chaotic situation the club is currently experiencing.
