An MUTV commentator has gone viral after making a brutal comment about Kurt Zouma live on-air during Manchester United's 3-0 win against West Ham on Sunday.
Zouma accidentally clashed with his own team-mate Alphonse Areola in the first half at Old Trafford as he went to make a clearance, unintentionally catching the goalkeeper in the face with his shoulder.
Replays did not make for pleasant viewing following the hefty collision, and one of the MUTV commentators took the opportunity to aim a dig at Zouma for his part in the incident.
As the players lined up for the resulting United corner, he said: 'He can be physical, Kurt Zouma, just ask his cat!'
The savage put-down - shared online by a fan who labelled the commentator 'unhinged' - was a reference to a video that surfaced online in February 2022 of Zouma kicking and slapping his pet cat with his brother, Yoan.
Kurt could be heard laughing in the background while Yoan posted the video with laughing emojis.
Kurt was heard saying 'I'll hit it', 'you want a fight' and 'where is it. Where is it?' and 'I'll kill it - I swear - I'll kill it.'
He went on to appear in court three months later and pleaded guilty to two counts under the Animal Welfare Act.
The West Ham defender was fined two weeks' wages worth £250,000 by the Premier League club and sentenced to 180 hours of community service.
West Ham pledged to give the money to a number of animal charities, while Zouma apologised for his behaviour, but it has clearly not been forgotten.
He was mocked by fans holding up inflatable cats inside the London Stadium in the aftermath of the viral footage, and has now been on the receiving end of brutal criticism from an MUTV commentator.
Areola was shaken by the collision with Zouma, with David Moyes bringing on Lukasz Fabianski at half time to replace him.
The Irons boss ensured fans afterwards that Areola was 'fine', but revealed he did not want to take any unnecessary risks with him following his blow to the head.
'It was just a case of we were making sure we were not doing the wrong thing,' he told the BBC.
'He is fine, we just felt there was no point risking him.'
Zouma played the full 90 minutes, but could not prevent his side slipping to defeat, as Erik ten Hag's men ran out comfortable winners thanks to an Alejandro Garnacho brace after Rasmus Hojlund's first-half strike.
