Alexis Mac Allister has vowed to get a Liverpool tattoo just six months after joining the Reds.

The Argentine midfielder completed his £35m switch from Brighton in July and has made an impressive start to life at Anfield, helping Liverpool to top spot in the Premier League.

He has built up an impressive tattoo collection over the years, and has now explained why he plans to get some Liverpool ink in the future.

Speaking on the first edition of Carlsberg's Inked series, Mac Allister revealed: 'Every tattoo that I've had done has got a why.'

The 25-year-old went on to explain that the number '1998' represents the year he was born, a tattoo depicting a little boy with a ball under his arm highlights his love for football, while he also has the date he made his professional debut on his left bicep.

Mac Allister has a tattoo of the number '28' as that is the first jersey he wore for Argentina Juniors, and he has the names of his family members underneath the word 'familia' (family) on his body to remind him of the people that have supported him through difficult moments.

When looking ahead to what his next tattoo could be, Mac Allister added: 'I will get something about Liverpool because since the first day I felt a really good connection with this club.

'I'm really happy to be here. Hopefully we can win something this year and get it done.'

Jurgen Klopp's side remain in four competitions, and have the chance to book their place in a first final of the season in next week's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Fulham. Liverpool hold a narrow 2-1 lead from the first meeting at Anfield.

They also also extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points when they travel to Bournemouth on Sunday.

Mac Allister will be hoping to make his first league start since early December after recently missing over three weeks of action due to a knee injury.
