Machin: Morata has been at the best clubs in the world

The potential January signing of Alvaro Morata for Sevilla is one that excites coach Pablo Machin, who would welcome the forward with open arms.

It has been a turbulent time for the Spain international at Stamford Bridge and he could be on the brink of a winter return to his homeland to make the move to Nervion.

Given that the Blues are closing in on Gonzalo Higuain's signing, it has opened the doors for Morata's exit, which Machin discussed with the assembled media.

"We have to be aware of the expectations that we have and we are trying to sign players that very few clubs have access to," he said.

"The ambition of the club is clear and we want to bring the best players possible in.

"Nobody can feel that we don't want to sign that calibre as we don't want to lower the bar.

"We want someone who can come in and help us as soon as possible.

"If the club pay a significant amount of money for the deal it is because the player is worth it.

"Morata has been at some of the best clubs in the world and he has been outstanding at Madrid and Juve, while at Chelsea he has also performed well."

The arrival of Morata would also offer competition for current attacking duo Andre Silva and Wissam Ben Yedder.
