Real Madrid are set to recall defender Jesus Vallejo from his loan spell at Wolves due to his lack of playing time.

Vallejo, 22, joined Wolves in the summer on a season long loan but has only featured seven times under boss Nuno Espirito Santo. Despite enjoying his personal life in the Midlands, he hasn't taken the field in over two months and is now searching for more playing time somewhere else.

The Spaniard is adamant that if he does return to the Bernabeu in January, he will play the rest of the season in either Germany or Spain.

He has attracted interest from his former club and Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, who he played 27 times for during the 2016/17 season.

Vallejo has also caught the eye of La Liga outfit Leganes. It would be likely the central defender would play much more at either of these clubs during the second half of the season which is the main reason for him wanting to break his Wolves deal, reported AS.

Wolves' decision to drop the Los Blancos defender is a little puzzling, after the club seemed to put faith into their new signing, as Vallejo revealed when he put pen to paper for them.

Vallejo said: 'Nuno called me and explained the project to me. It was the club that bet on me the strongest.'

However, their back line of Conor Coady, Ryan Bennett and Romain Saiss have performed well and offer little opportunity for minutes.

Even Max Kilman, who Wolves signed from Maidenhead United, has played more across all competitive competitions than Vallejo.
