Manchester United face an interesting tussle with goalkeeper Dean Henderson over his future with the player wanting to be No 1 at Old Trafford next season.
United's preference was for Henderson to spend a further season on loan having been successful for the last two years at Sheffield United, before returning in 12 months time to replace David de Gea.
They are willing to offer a new contract which would increase his £60,000-a-week wages to assure Henderson that he is part of their long-term plans.
Even so, the ambitious 23-year-old feels that he proved himself in the Premier League last season and that he should be given a run under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, leading to a potential stand-off between both parties ahead of the new season.
Sheffield United, meanwhile, have had an improved £18.5million bid accepted for Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. The offer will include a 15 per cent sell-on for the 22-year-old.
The Bramall Lane club had a £12m offer rejected earlier this month but had set their sights on Ramsdale with Henderson's future in doubt.
De Gea has made several mistakes for United in recent months but Solskjaer has repeated his view that the Spaniard is among the best in the world. United would also find it hard to find clubs able to match his £17m annual salary.

they can't just make you number 1 .. you need to prove you deserve it. you need to fight for it.. if the manager sees Henderson in good form and training well and de gea fumbles like he did this season then he'd get his wish but they can't just make you number one without you proving yourset

Hes not ready. Hes going through the same patch of high form that Pickford went through at the world cup. Dont be fooled he is not at the level yet to take over from de De Gea. United would be better off using Romero in goal hes warranted a start imo.
