The Premier League title contenders aren't missing a beat. Manchester City responded to Liverpool's challenge on Wednesday night as they beat Brighton 3-0 to retake top spot, having temporarily been leapfrogged by the Reds.
Match Report
Liverpool's comprehensive 4-0 hammering of Manchester United on Tuesday saw Jurgen Klopp's side sit top, but Pep Guardiola's men reacted exactly as they'd have hoped by claiming three points of their own just 24 hours later.
Although the Seagulls went in at the break with the scores locked at 0-0 and their clean sheet preserved, there was little they could do in the second half.
Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring eight minutes after half time, and Phil Foden doubled the champions' lead just 12 minutes later.
To be sure of the points and top spot, Bernardo Silva added a third with under 10 minutes of the 90 left to play.

Ruben Dias is back. He changed the game from the back, I wish he was not injured, Manchester City would have hold on to the top by wider margin

I have said it and will still repeat it. We will drop points again, very sorry liverpool fans come back next year. We have dropped all the points we needed to drop this season and with the same teams home and away. Check it out, Spurs, Cristal Palace, Southampton and Liverpool. The teams we are playing in the remaining six games are teams we have beaten already and we must beat them in the return leg.
