Match Events
6' OWN GOAL! Man City 1-0 Southampton (Hoedt)
The Champions have been pressing for an early goal in the last couple of minutes, with David Silva involved in everything going forward. The midfielder plays the ball into Sane, who sprints into the box and tries to slide the ball into the bottom corner. Hoedt slides in and tries to clear the ball on the line, but unfortunately he ends up firing the ball into the back of his own net.
12' GOAL! Man City 2-0 Southampton (Aguero)
Nightmare start for Southampton, they are two down after just 12 minutes played. Bernardo Silva and Sterling link up brilliantly down the right, with Sterling beating two players in the box and he gets to the byline, he then squares the ball back to Aguero who was waiting in the box and he smashes the ball into the back of the net from just a couple of yards out.
18' GOAL! Man City 3-0 Southampton (Silva)
The attacking front three of City are carving open this Saints defence, especially down the wings. Sterling feeds Sane, who then flicks the ball onto David Silva at the back post and the midfielder drills the ball into the back of the net on the volley.
30' Penalty Goal! Man City 3-1 Southampton (Ings)
Ings shows great composure to slide the ball into the bottom corner of the net, he just waited for Ederson to move one way and then slotted the ball into the other corner. Something to cheer about for the away fans.
47' GOAL! Man City 4-1 Southampton (Sterling)
Aguero does brilliantly to beat Cedric on the byline and then looks up and spots Sterling making a run at the far post. The winger doesn't take the best first touch, but he still manages to beat Bertrand and fire the ball under McCarthy to restore his sides three goal cushion before the break.
67' GOAL! Man City 5-1 Southampton (Sterling)
Another lovely move by City, a quick one-two on the edge of the box and Aguero then lays the ball off to Sterling who was sprinting into the box. The winger then drills the ball underneath McCarthy from a tight angle and into the back of the net.
91' GOAL! Man City 6-1 Southampton (Sane)
The hosts broke forward quickly and stretched the Saints defence, with Sterling squaring the ball to Sane on the edge of the box, who drilled a low shot into the bottom corner. McCarthy got a hand to the ball, but he was unable to turn the ball around the post.
Match Report
Hoedt's own goal gave City a sixth-minute lead, the centre-back – whose initial failed clearance brought about the move – finding his own net when attempting to keep Sane's shot out.
Aguero doubled their tally from close range after Sterling breezed through Saints' hapless defence and passed into the danger zone.
Sterling was integral again for the third, with his cross nudged on by Sane, and Silva smashed home on the volley.
Ings' penalty – after Ederson hauled him down – saw Saints pull one back, but Sterling restored the three-goal cushion just before the interval, slotting home after tireless work from Aguero.
But City still looked in control and they got a fifth just past the hour – Sterling drilling under Alex McCarthy after Aguero fed him into the area.
Sane completed the rout with a sixth in the closing minutes, picking out the bottom-left corner from the edge of the box after being found on the break by Sterling.

Sane’s attitude will get him out of City very soon ... He doesn’t show any excitement in play... Diaz is way more motivated.

Well I did say City would win by 5 goals and also said Southampton are not the team they used to be. Its sad that all the good players they had left them for other teams. They had such a capable team at one point. Good win for City but very routine against this level of opposition for them. All we can do is pray for United cos next week they got a City that is looking even more fierce than last season... Aguero is a monster and David Silva can be 40 and still be masterclass...

Manchester City have scored five or more goals in a single Premier League game for the 12th time under Pep Guardiola - no other team has done so more than six times since the start of the 2016-17 season Sergio Aguero has scored his 150th Premier League goal in his 217th appearance - only Alan Shearer (212 games) has scored 150 in fewer games in Premier League history.

150 - Manchester City's Sergio Aguero is just the third player to score 150 Premier League goals for a single club, after Thierry Henry for Arsenal (175) and Wayne Rooney for Manchester United (183).💪💪💪💪💪💪👈💪💪💪💪 Legend.

All I'll say is that if we give Sarri the same time as Pep has had with the City, we could turn into what City is right now. We just need to hope that the club have patience with Sarri and that the magic works. Just look at what he's done to Napoli. Napoli were always good but he turned them into something else. Now they outplay teams like PSG and Liverpool who on paper are like 2 of the world's best teams. With our players, just think of what Sarri can achieve. Hazard at his disposal... I believe Pep and Sarri are equals in coaching with a similar level of players which they now have. Pep is the master but Sarri is close to that title too.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention Sterling in my comment. This guy will be England's leader when he enters his prime. What a player, he will definitely carry England to 1 title at least in his lifetime if he continues playing like this. Wouldn't be surprised to see Madrid show interest in this guy...

This is actually a standard score for them against struggling sides like Southampton and Huddesrfield. They're basically food for City...

Sane is a German. All Germans wear poker faces. They don't express it through body language but deep down in sure they all want to do well. Ozil usually has that sort of exterior too but many times in interviews he's come out saying he wants to give his all for his club and formerly country and I believe Sane is the same. Maybe shows the attitude of a lazy player but we all know and witnessed that the guy is an immensely talented footballer. About Diaz, he will definitely play in the future, as to whether it's city idk but he will be at a big club soon. His abilities are wasted in his age range since he's too good. Also he's deployable ad a CAM so Sane or Sterling's place in the squad isn't threatened. The person who threatens Sane spot is Mahrez or Sterling when deployed on the left. .

They way Man City is running with 'plenty' goals, someone must stop them.
I think they're trying to win off of goal difference this year cos unlike last year there's 3 teams considered favourites. Them, Liverpool and us...
