Ruben Dias might not be the last defender Manchester City sign this summer - after a gaffe appeared to signal that Kalidou Koulibaly was on his way.
City confirmed the signing of Portugal international Dias from Benfica on Tuesday, with the 23-year-old signing a six-year deal following a club-record £65m switch.
The centre-back's arrival cannot come soon enough, with Sunday's 5-2 defeat at home to Leicester showing how desperate Pep Guardiola's side are for defensive reinforcements.
So desperate, in fact, that when a story appeared on City's official website revealing what the new arrival's squad number would be, it mistakenly suggested that Koulibaly had also signed for the Premier League side.
The story - confirming that Dias would wear the number three shirt for the season ahead - included a link at the bottom, urging City fans to ask 'new signing' Koulibaly a question.
The link was quickly deleted once the blunder had been spotted - but not before a screengrab had been shared on social media.
Two possible scenarios immediately spring to mind.
Either City are preparing to sign Koulibaly - and one over-eager employee has jumped the gun by posting the wrong link.
Or - given that the Napoli defender has been linked with City all summer - someone at the club had Koulibaly on the brain and got the names mixed up when updating the website.
Accidents happen.
But it's certainly no accident that City have splashed out for Dias, given that Guardiola's side have been crying out for a decent centre-half since long-time skipper Vincent Kompany departed last summer.
And fans would no doubt welcome another new rearguard recruit - although City would likely have to break their transfer record again to land Koulibaly, with Napoli believed to want at least £70m for the 29-year-old.
With City already playing catch-up to defending champions Liverpool, there will be many in and around the Etihad hoping Tuesday's howler proves a portent of things to come.
