Man City board private jet to Cardiff to forget UCL defeat

Manchester City are jetting off to Cardiff in style, boarding a private jet as they try to put their surprise Champions League defeat behind them.

A dire first half saw the Premier League champions concede twice in the first half during their opening match against Lyon. They weren't able to battle back, falling to a 2-1 defeat - it's not how Pep Guardiola will have wanted to start.

City will be looking to bounce back immediately as they shift their focus back to the league. Newly promoted side Cardiff will have their work cut out for them.

Unlike in the Champions League, Man City remain undefeated in the league with a draw to Wolves as the only blemish on their otherwise perfect record. Last week they swept past Fulham 3-0.

Cardiff on the other hand are struggling and are yet to find their first Premier League win. They've mustered two draws but were blown away 4-1 by Chelsea last weekend.

As the Bluebirds run of facing top six teams continues, they'll be fearful of a City side who are joint top scorers in the league alongside Chelsea with 14 in just five games.

One City player who won't be making the trip to Wales is Benjamin Mendy who mysteriously was left out of the squad next week. It has now been revealed that the Frenchman is suffering with a bruised metatarsal in his left foot and will not be risked this weekend.

Meanwhile Kevin De Bruyne remains a long term absentee with a knee injury. The Belgian was in London last night to celebrate the FIFA 19 global launch. He was given a trophy as the Premier League's highest rated player in the game.

Cardiff on the other hand will be without Aron Gunnarsson who is out until October with a knock and  Nathaniel Mendez-Laing who is sidelined until December with a knee injury.
