Manchester City fans are raving over Ederson after he produced a couple of crucial saves during their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian goalkeeper was largely untested throughout the contest at Selhurst Park but came to his side's rescue on two occasions late on to keep the home side at bay.

Two first-half goals in the space of 90 seconds from Gabriel Jesus and David Silva put City in command.

Kevin De Bruyne hit the bar after the break while Jesus and Raheem Sterling both spurned great opportunities when well placed to extend the lead.

The win moves City back up to second place in the Premier League, cutting Liverpool's lead at the top of the table to five points ahead of their game at Old Trafford on Sunday.

After losing to Wolves before the international break, this result and performance was the perfect tonic for Pep Guardiola's side.

Despite starting the game without a recognised centre-back in the team, City were rarely tested by Palace at the back.

The icing on the cake for the visitors came when John Stones returned to first-team action as a second-half substitute, boosting Guardiola's options at the back following several weeks on the sidelines with a thigh problem.
