Man City make dig at Man Utd with advert just 100 yards away from Old Trafford

Manchester City have struck the first blow of the upcoming season against rivals United by positioning a billboard outside Old Trafford.

The sign reads: 'This is our City', and advertises the new kits the Premier League champions will be wearing.

City's marketing team will have infuriated United fans with the positioning of the advertisement only 100 yards from their ground.

The screen changes between an image of the home shirt and the all-black away kit.

It is positioned on the White City roundabout, ensuring thousands of drivers will see the sign every day.

This isn't the first time City have stuck it to their neighbours on the marketing front.

Back in 2009 there was the famous 'welcome to Manchester' advertisement in the city with Carlos Tevez's picture.

The Argentine had refused to sign a new deal at Old Trafford and City rubbed salt in the wounds after Mark Hughes picked him up on a £150,000-a-week contract.

In the club's latest campaign Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane model the shirts and a promotional video was released on Monday.

The 'This is our City', tagline was again repeated as the Puma strip made its on-screen debut with rapper Bugzy Malone.

They doubled the previous deal with Nike in agreeing to sponsor the team for £50million-per-year.

The home kit has a reference to their 125th year in existence under the club crest and there is a v-neck collar with a pattern intending as a nod to the city's industrial heritage.

A Hacienda-nightclub inspired away strip is round-neck with yellow stripes on the left shoulder in reference to the legendary party scene of the 1980s and 1990s.
