Manchester City are plotting a stunning move for £50million-rated Leicester defender Ben Chilwell.
Left-back Chilwell signed a new £110,000-per-week deal that runs until 2024 just two months ago, but that hasn't stopped the champions putting the 21 year-old on their January wish list.
Chilwell has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season, confirming his huge potential by establishing himself as the Foxes first-choice left-back and breaking into Gareth Southgate's England side.
He has started the Three Lions' last four matches, helping them reach the Nations League finals next summer.
Man City hoped Benjamin Mendy would be their answer long term at left-back when they spent £52m to sign him from Monaco ahead of last season. But injury problems have restricted him to just 16 starts, forcing them to consider their options.
Mendy missed most of the Blues' title-winning campaign with a cruciate injury in his right knee, another seven games with a damaged foot earlier this term and is now expected to be out until late February with a meniscus problem in his left knee.
The France international also earned a ticking off from Guardiola over his social media activity and tested his manager's patience again in September by turning up late for treatment the day after attending an Anthony Joshua title fight at Wembley.
He was fined for being late to training ahead of the season opener at Arsenal too, while Guardiola made him move out of Manchester city centre to reduce the potential distractions.
Mendy's absences have forced the manager to either use midfielders Fabian Delph or Oleksandr Zinchenko as left-backs or ask defenders Danilo or Aymeric Laporte to fill in there.
That new contract will give Leicester plenty of confidence they can fend off any admirers of one of their star players, but boss Claude Puel admits they will have to show they can match the ambition of the likes of Chilwell to hang onto their prized assets.
Puel said: “If they can see the club makes improvements in its structure and in the quality of the squad to perform and compete with the top clubs in the table, I think we can respond to their ambition.
“I hope we can continue to improve and show the necessary ambition to satisfy all of these players to continue with Leicester.
“For the moment, I think there is a fantastic feeling between the club and them. They are happy to play for Leicester City but of course we need to match their ambition.
“They need to think they can perform with this club at the top of the table and to think they can win something.”

Chiwell, is quite good and I think he can blend in well with guadiola's style of wanting his fullbacks to overlap and €50 is sorta high, Buh Chiwell, has mad potential and will fill that void at left back quite well.

I think pep has ran out of patients with mendy. But buying chillwell may spell doom for Delph and Zinchenko but I know pep needs players he can trust to establish a dynasty so yes let the club fund the transfer for him. He is just 21 meaning he has lots of years ahead of him and meaning mendy would have fight for a place

Defo bro, If City give Diaz a chance he could also form an insane trio up front. He is known as a mini Messi, I have high ratings for that kid...
Yeah man I hope they do but I really think he’s gonna choose to leave for Spain. But if he’s willing to stay and City give him more time to play that would make me really happy. We’ll see what happens man.👍

50 million? Poch is literally the Spurs bank. He takes average players, develops them then sells them to City or some other team that buy over development.... Genius and underpaid by Spurs for his contribution.
Anyways it was a good chat bro. Need to head off to sleep now.

Yeah I honestly think Madrid should have tried a little harder to get poch
He's the BPL most underrated manager cos he never gets the players he wants to compete. Surprised he's stayed at Spurs this long. Would have left for another job after getting fed up without the funding or the best players and being expected to win the league.

Yes that’s what I’ve been telling my brother, he’s a chelsea fan who doesn’t know much about mount but yeah I’ve told him many times “mark my words foden + mount + winks will make a 2011-12 Barcelona-like midfield one day. That’s a lot to live up to but the potential is higher than the sky with those 3, winks’ passing ability as a holding mid fielder is amazing, he should start every game for Tottenham, I love watching him play.
Those 3 in the middle, maybe Maddison in sometimes too with CHO, Sterling and Rashford/Sancho up front would be mad. Also that kid from United that's been said to also been good too could fill in up front, Mason Greenwood I think. Heard he's got ability. England got so many future stars, especially in attack and midfield. It's crazy.

Yeah Winks is also coming good. And again it comes down to the fact that while Poch isn't winning much, primarily down to funding. He's taking raw products and turning them into something else. Genuinly think certain players under Poch would become world class cos he's just a class manager in terms of development....

In a way I also have a gut feeling he will be better than Barkley and a bit better than RLC. RLC is essentially what people want Pogba to be whereas Pogba is a playmaker nowadays. When United fans got Pogba they thought they'll get a ball carrier with goal threat but they got a midfielder with good passing and physical presence in the middle with the odd defence splitting run. Mount on the other hand is a lot like Foden in that they both can pass, have great vision, can run at defences. I wouldn't mind seeing a partnership between the 2 for England. They could be 2 of the best like how Gerrard and Lampard were when they played. (not saying theyll be anywhere near these 2 legends but they can create their own history)

That line up actually looks good. I wonder if Mount would get in cos he's another promising one for the future. Just like Foden he shows promise but you know how it is with Chelsea. He'd be lucky to get a game in the Europa league let alone the prem when he comes back next year....

Yeah man I agree with that. Sane and sterling just need time and if Jesus gets his form back I think in 1-2 years they will be the most deadly trio in PL.

Idk, I personally think foden will be world class in about 6 years. His vision, passing ability, and technical skills are all above what an 18 year old should be. I think he should play more than gundo and maybe split time with bernardo, whereas zinchenko he’s good but maybe he’s too slow and at times sloppy on the ball, his long range passing and distance shooting is pretty good though. Diaz is good I would like to see him start against Leicester next week in quarter final EFL Cup. But foden will probably start this weekend vs Everton, idk how much you’ve seen of him this season but please just watch his little movements and passing and link-up play with sane on that side. Maybe one day he will change your mind about him but I understand because I don’t rate RLC that highly, maybe just because I haven’t seen enough of him, I watched a little bit of the game against vidi he didn’t impress me too much
But I've seen Foden, for me personally, I like the way he carries the ball. In a sense it reminds me of why I rate RLC cos he also can carry the balk through a defence without even having yo use any sort of skill or technique. Foden was pretty similar in that sense from what I seen of him but I have heard he has great passing and vision. The thing that scares me is I don't want to see Foden turn into Wilshere cos at Foden age Wilshere also was actually a fantastic player but with time kinda went downhill and it seems to be the case with most English midfielders of this era but I got hope in the new era plus Foden gets the likes of CHO as well as a matured Sterling and Rashford in his time up front so he should have some of the best English players alongside him and comfortably play freely instead of the sideways passing players we got now in midfield.

RLC was atrocious against Vidi bro but tbh anyone playing alongside Barkley looks atrocious. Barkley is just average. If you watched in the match against Vidi, CHO only struggled on that right side cos Barkley saw him in clear threatening positions and instead of take a gamble would just go back or sideways again. And with Ruben it was the same, our players were looking backwards rather than forwards. Like if you noticed in the game against you guys, the one thing we didn't do was go backwards or sideways and it helped cos it may have been a gamble but reward came. I hate the concept of safe passing being a players whole game. That's what pisses me off about guys like Hendo or Dier who are scared of moving the ball forward and now even Barkley is the same.

With me personally, I don't rate Foden ahead of the likes of Diaz and Zinchenko in terms of raw potential but that being said, among what we have in the England squad currently. Foden comes in right after RLC for me no debate. Maybe those 2 have Mount and Maddison come in behind them. I don't see a future with Barkley/Hendo/Wilshere/Dier they're all too average...

I mean yh with titles and that player values go up. We got Hazard for like 23 million and now the guys worth like 150+. I think given time the prices of City players will skyrocket. I see Sane becoming really expensive cos there's something about that guy that just says Superstar imo. Sterling too is coming great and showing us why he was that promising youth player that dominated the youth level all those years ago... Sane and Sterling along with Jesus can become one of the best front 3s in the prem undisputed. Maybe possibly the 2nd best now....

That’s fair enough but you can also say that pep bought good players and made them world class, every player City bought in the last few years ( a few exceptions) would be sold for a big profit right now. Especially sane and sterling would at least triple what we spent on them.

And Wilson probably won’t start over Kane but still he looks like a great striker who would do even better at better team
Wilson got potential but he needs consistency. Me personally am not a huge fan of Kane but if I had to choose one striker out if all the options for England it'd have to be Kane due to his consistency and ability on and off the ball. More so on the ball.

He's been linked with a few names now actually. I still think Ampadu is potentially better. That kid shows more promise than any young defenders we have now and even some of the more experienced ones.... Also got Odoi at the club and he's a fricken football beast. But yeah back on topic I agree with what you said about Davies, he's not that great but I'm sure the media will try and sell him to us as the biggest thing as he's a spurs player. I remember them referring to Dier as a "promising young star". Promising my foot, he's just a glorified Henderson 😂

I heard hr got balance to his game. I like defenders like that. I got to see a youth defender from our club today and apart from a slight error which he can't really be blamed for given how young he is and how much he's played, he was solid and mature beyond his years. His names Ampadu, you probably heard of him. The kid is insane for a 18 year old. If chillwell is a utility player at the back line Ampadu them I may start liking him too lol.
