Manchester City have moved swiftly to solve their goalkeeper crisis by recalling teenager Aro Muric from his loan spell at Dutch club NAC Breda on Wednesday night.
Ederson was left as City's only senior keeper after his No 2 Claudio Bravo suffered an achilles injury that could rule him out for most of the season.
There were concerns that Muric's loan may not have included a recall option, but City confirmed on Wednesday that the Montenegro Under-21 international was on his way back to Manchester from their partner club in Holland.
Muric is expected to be on the bench when City face Wolves at Molineux on Saturday, and provide back-up for Ederson until January at the earliest.
The 19-year-old made just one appearance for NAC Breda, keeping a clean sheet in last weekend's 3-0 win over De Graafschap.
The decision to recall 6ft 5in Muric is a clear indication that Bravo's injury will turn out to be as bad as City suspected after he was hurt in training at the start of the week.
The Chile international will travel to Barcelona on Thursday to be assessed by Dr Ramon Cugat amid fears he has ruptured an achiiles tendon.
Having sold Joe Hart and Angus Gunn this summer, the setback left Pep Guardiola with only one other keeper in academy graduate Daniel Grimshaw, 20, who has yet to make his professional debut.
