The Premier League champions made a winning start to the defence of their crown on the opening weekend, while the Terriers suffered a heavy defeat

Defending Premier League champions Manchester City made a winning start to the defence of their title and will be hoping for more of the same against Huddersfield.

Pep Guardiola’s side, who swept to the crown in record-breaking style last season, made light work of a trip to Arsenal on the opening weekend.

A first outing of the campaign at the Etihad Stadium will see them going in search of more goals against a side handed the most testing of starts.

The Terriers head to Manchester on the back of a 3-0 reversal against Chelsea, with the fixture list doing them few favours as they seek to once again cement a standing among the elite.

In the United States (US) the game can be watched live on TV on NBC Sports, or via the NBC Sports App.

In the United Kingdom (UK), the game can be watched live on TV via Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, or via the Sky Go app.

Kevin De Bruyne has been ruled out for up to three months with knee ligament damage and fellow midfielder David Silva remains a doubt after struggling with a hip complaint over recent weeks.

Brazilian full-back Danilo remains sidelined with an ankle problem picked up while on World Cup duty, while Eliaquim Mangala is nursing a knee complaint.

Potential Man City XI: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Laporte, Mendy, B. Silva, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Mahrez, Sterling, Aguero.

Isaac Mbenza remains a doubt for the Terriers, but the deadline-day signing could come into contention to make his debut.

Another summer addition, Erik Durm, is still working his way back to full fitness, as is Danny Williams - who suffered a broken ankle in March - while Mathias Jorgensen has a muscle problem.

Potential Huddersfield XI: Hamer, Hadergjonaj, Schindler, Kongolo, Lowe, Pritchard, Hogg, Mooy, Billing, Van La Parra, Mounie.

Betting & Match Odds

Manchester City are overwhelming favourites to emerge victorious, with bet365 pricing them at 1/10 to take all three points. Huddersfield, in contrast, are considered to be 25/1 shots, with a draw available at 12/1.

Match Preview

The last time Manchester City welcomed Huddersfield to the Etihad Stadium, they got their hands on the Premier League trophy.

With those celebrations at the back of their mind, the Blues endured a rare off day in an otherwise remarkable season.

The Terriers were able to grind out a goalless draw at the home of the champions, with that precious point helping them to safety.

Pep Guardiola’s side also found their West Yorkshire foes to be a tough nut to crack on the road, with City having to come from behind to seal a 2-1 success through Raheem Sterling’s 84th-minute strike.

David Wagner will be setting his side up to frustrate once more, with Huddersfield in need of a boost to morale on the back of a disappointing showing against Chelsea.

City, though, appear to have picked up where they left off in 2017-18 and will be determined to avoid offering their rivals a glimmer of hope in a renewed battle for Premier League supremacy.
