Manchester City welcome their neighbours Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon with both teams desperate for a victory.

Manchester City have been handed a fresh injury blow ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Manchester United after Omar Marmoush was forced off for Egypt in World Cup qualifying.

Just nine minutes into the clash against Burkina Faso, the 26-year-old went down clutching his knee and looked to be in severe pain on the pitch. He was ultimately forced off and Pep Guardiola now faces a nervous wait to see if the forward shall be fit for Sunday's derby.

So far this season, Marmoush has featured in all three Premier League fixtures for the Blues. After beginning on the bench against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the opening day, the former Eintracht Frankfurt man has started the last two and picked up an assist in the defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

City are currently blighted by injuries with Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, Marcus Bettinelli and Kalvin Phillips all set to miss the clash with United. Meanwhile, nervous waits are expected on Savinho, Abdukodir Khusanov, Rico Lewis, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Nico O'Reilly, John Stones and Phil Foden.

As for United, their injury issues are much less severe and have been handed a boost in recent days. Casemiro, in a bid to be fully fit for the derby, has returned to Carrington early after picking up a suspension for an accumulationof yellow cards ahead of Brazil's clash with Bolivia in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Matheus Cunha pulled out of that squad due to an injury picked up against Burnley before the break. However, he has been posting positive updates on social media regarding his condition.

Elsewhere, Lisandro Martinez is a long-term injury concern but could be back in contention to face City. Meanwhile, Amorim will have to wait to see if Mason Mount has recovered from the injury he sustained against the Clarets.

Diogo Dalot could also miss out after withdrawing from the Portugal squad due to what is believed to be a muscular issue. Both City and United will be desperate to be victorious after below par starts to the campaign.

The Reds are currently one point above City having won one, drawn one and lost one in the Premier League. However, they did suffer the humiliation of losing to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.

City started the season brilliantly with a comprehensive victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton have dented the optimistic start.
