Manchester City were only able to claim a draw in their previous Premier League fixture against Liverpool, a result that snapped their win streak of 23 home games in a row.

City must now look to restart their winning streak in the Etihad Stadium with a win against RB Leipzig in this Champions League group-stage tie.

RB Leipzig travel to Manchester in hope to reverse the result from their previous head-to-head that saw Manchester City dictate the game from start to finish.

Leipzig’s recent league form appears to be somewhat inconsistent. However, they currently sit just three points behind the reigning Premier League champions in their group and a win here would significantly bolster the confidence of this German squad.

Marco Rose will have to make alterations this time around as Pep Guardiola had him all figured out in the last match. Leipzig managed to score against the visiting City side, but this was their only shot on target of the game. The final score was 3-1, but if Manchester City had been more clinical it could have been a lot more.

With this tie returning to the Etihad, Manchester City will be eager to restart their winning form in front of the home fans. City appeared to rely on substitutes last time out, with both Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku being the difference makers from off the bench.

Even though the goals came late, City were in full control of the tie and led at half-time with the German outfit failing to record a single shot on target. It is hard to see Guardiola looking to fix something that isn’t broken, and City will look to lead this game from the early stages.

Manchester City have accumulated 12 goals so far throughout their European campaign, scoring half of these at home. This doesn’t bode well for Leipzig as they return to the venue that saw them lose 7-0 during last year’s Round of 16 draw against City. If Leipzig can’t find a solution to Guardiola’s tactics, a similar scoreline may be upon them.

City have averaged seven shots on target per game in all competitions this season, including six against Leipzig in the reverse fixture. With the luxury of the home crowd, City will be mounting immense pressure on the visitors, with efforts on goal becoming a common occurrence.

How are both teams expected to line up on Tuesday? Here are the predicted lineups from WhoScored.com with all the relevant team news.

Manchester City vs RB Leipzig Team News

Manchester City are obvious favourites here at 3/10 on Unibet. RB Leipzig come into this tie as massive underdogs. Due to their previous game against Guardiola’s side, Unibet have them at the best price of 17/2 to win. A draw is priced at 19/4.

Half-Time/Full-Time – Manchester City/Manchester City

As was the case in their previous fixture, City will take complete control of this game from the word go. Phil Foden was able to find the back of the net during the 25th minute in the last head-to-head allowing them to head into half-time with the lead. I can see this game following a similar pattern.

Over 2.5 Home Goals

Manchester City have scored three goals in every Champions League game so far this season. Leipzig have already become victims of this stat and with the Etihad on their side I see City maintaining this goalscoring record here.

Over 5.5 Home Shots on Target

As the averages read, Manchester City should hit this number with ease. I can see City setting themselves up with an abundance of goalscoring opportunities and when considering that 39.2% of all of their shots hit the target, it’s hard to imagine they struggle with this pick.
