Bruno Fernandes has hit back at claims that he took a dig at Manchester United captain Harry Maguire in a social media post.
Manchester United have had a disappointing season on the pitch, while there has also been talk of rifts in the dressing room.
On Friday, Fernandes posted a picture where he is seen standing between Raphael Varane and Eric Bailly, in which he captioned: 'Feeling very safe between these two.'
Comments on the post suggested that was Fernandes saying that Varane and Bailly were his first choice centre-back options and that he was hitting out at Maguire.
The England international scored his first goal of the season as he headed in the opener during United's 4-2 win over Leeds on Sunday.
After the match, Fernandes has hit back at the claims suggesting he was taking a shot at Maguire on social media.
In his post-match interview, he said: 'Honestly, I think people question everything at this club. Every week we have a new story about something.
'I posted a message on Instagram when I was with Rafa (Varane) and Eric and I said I feel really secure in the middle of these two.
'Meaning that security like if they are my bodyguard and people was complaining "oh you're throwing something at Maguire" or whatever.
'Maguire wasn't the only defender that that was in the photo - (Victor) Lindelof was not in the photo, Phil Jones was not in the photo.
'So, people want to complain want to make issues around us but the most important (thing) is we stick together and we do our jobs on the pitch.'
Maguire has often been the main source of criticism for United's lacklustre displays this season.
The 28-year-old has made some costly mistakes, but Fernandes was keen to point out that United's disappointing results this season are due to bad team performances than because of any one individual.
He said: 'Obviously, everyone is happy for H (Maguire) because it's really tough being in his place in the last period and obviously we all have bad games.
'If we don't win it's not because H is not playing well, or because Bruno is not playing well it's because the team is not playing well.
'For us inside the dressing room, it's not to blame someone but to understand how we can come out of bad situations.'

The people who are attacking and criticizing Fernandez over the post are the same people who will still mock Maguire’s performances after every match. We are in a generation where everyone is a social media Warrior
