Manchester United fans have hailed Erik ten Hag's first interview as the club's new manager as 'fantastic'.
The former Ajax boss attended their last game of the season, a 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, and spoke out on the club's website in his first official appearance, promising the side would improve after a poor season.
He said: 'It's first: accept the current situation but also know one year ago, this club, was second in the Premier League. There's potential... It's a process, it will take time but I'm convinced we will come to that point where we get success. We have to work hard and it has to be based on the right philosophy and strategy.
'I really look forward to doing this job, at this club with massive history, and we want to restore it where it belongs. We want to make the fans proud. Second, the current situation is obviously not that good. It's a big challenge. I want to build and construct a team who are battling for each other, who are unified and who will get results.
'Also we are playing in the Theatre of Dreams. We want to entertain. But in the end, the intention is to play fantastic football. If we can't play fantastic football, we still have to win. I have high expectations from myself and that is also what I demand from my squad.
'They have to co-operate together and they have to give every day their best. And I would say, for me, good is not good enough. We have to do better... The way we did it, with dominant, dictating football, that is the way I want to act at United as well.'
And fans quickly took to Twitter to express their satisfaction with his words.
One said: 'Hearing Erik Ten Hag's first interview, very optimistic. I just hope he's backed in the right way and given time to get it right. Love the way he spoke and one thing hits hard on that interview. 'Good is not good enough'.'
Another added: 'This first interview by Ten Hag is fantastic. I've fully bought into this beautiful bald man', while a third posted: 'Just finished watching the ten hag interview and I'm very impressed so far'.
One tweeted: 'Loved it, breath of fresh air finally something to feel good and positive about. Support, back and give him time! But only silver lining of the season I suppose!'.
A fifth continued: 'Ten Hag's interview really made me realise that we are going to be a serious club again and hungry for trophies...'.
While another concluded: 'Loved it!! Sounded... like an actual manager like #SAF. Clear, concise, spoke with purpose, direction, clarity, authority & someone who didn't look at all out of place. I really believe we've snared someone others would have wanted.'

I wish him the best, will not be easy.needs to make the right moves side by side with the Manchester institution.humility and sacrifice will be needed to construct a compact competitive team with the right players.

He looks like he has a plan unlike clueless rangnick... We need to fix that midfield most of all and few news leakages from the camp just like in the Fergie days so that whatever happens in the camp stays in the camp and that allows the team to be concentrated more on on field happenings.. Bruno should talk less, pogba should be off with his distraction and bring in players cos they want to play for united and not cos they want huge pay.. Make better use of the academy and not just starting elanga every game even when there are more exciting academy lads out there.. Ralf rangnick has been the worst man UTd manager ever

They are not in any better position, have you forgotten that man united finish second and went undefeated the whole season away from home just a year ago with this same set of players who could not even have a 60 point mark this concluded season , so there is a lot of potentials in the squad and man united we even get more stronger with 3 to 4 new players coming to replace the out going lazy players causing trouble to different coaches all this years, so the sky we be our limit because good times are coming back to Old trafford weather you like it or not
Well said Br ...... this current squad eeish is hectic doesn't have any passion for winning the ball they are too lazy to press n run .... there is a time I laughed watching Mactominy waiting for the ball n the opponent took the ball in front of him n it happens also to many players several times eeish

We'v equally heard those enticing words from all the previous Managers of the club and they'll couldn't do shít.
not all of them. Olé kept on talking about " the Utd way" that nobody understood while ETH is more precise in his philosophy. He just needs a backing from board, players and fans

it's unfortunate that comes to a League where there is Conte, Guandiola anl Clop as managers. I see him struggling before even he can start his job

After his first interview it looks like he is so humble n also he has his mission but fir his dream to become true it needs backup from our Board and also as fans. In his position sometimes we might judge him in 1 season but Man Utd as it is it need time to panel beat this squad. Every Manager has his own players that's suite the style but if u hire this one n tomorrow u sack him the one who is coming he has his own philosophy doesn't suit some players so its ended up like this current team Man Utd. Man Utd Board must stop sabotaging managers if the manager ask for 3 players dont give him 1 n promising other 2 after 2 seasons it doesn't work at all, Ryt if we look at Man City, Liverpool, n Arsenal these people they have patients about managers n their Boarder they respond intime to finalize the deal n ryt now they are enjoying the games n they are winning games n trophies yet Man Utd keep hiring n firing managers without progress ended up buying expensive players like Maguire yet there some good defenders out there they can play a better than Maguire n they are cheaper. In conclusion Man Utd Board if they dont support Erick Ten then they will sack him in 2 seasons but if they can meet requirements then will enjoy the game

I'm sure with the right players in the squad great things can happen 👍🏼
Yes you are right , never forgot that just a year ago man United went a whole season without losing away from home , so there is a lot of potential in the squad we just need to refresh the spuad with good and the right players to replace the outgoing not good enough players at Man united

The only mistake Manutd made was sacking a bad coach and signed the worst. When I look at ragnick, I don't see any football brain, no I'm-game tactics. When team is not balanced, you will see him sitting down on the bench, I don't think he talks to those players.

They should not expect anything.... this is a new process.... He will build the club up from the scratch. They will suffer alot because everyone else will be ahead of them and they might even miss out on CL again. But if they give him time he'll get them back to challenging for trophies again. After all the sackings I wish they finally stop complaining about the "united way" and just be patient with him while he cleans up years of mess in that confused club.
