Manchester United fans have largely come together to express their joy after news reports said the Glazer family were exploring selling the club after a turbulent time in charge.
The American family took over the Old Trafford club in 2005, but fan protests have continued throughout that time amid general anger at the way the Red Devils have been run, particularly as some believe a lack of investment has been made at the club.
After Sky News reported that they might be considering selling the club as part of a search for further investment, fans were quick to express their happiness at the possibility that Manchester United's time under the Glazers may be coming to an end sooner rather than later.
An immediate response came in the form of the short phrase 'Don't get me excited', alongside a laughing emoji, a prayer emoji, and a happy gif.
One fan account wrote: 'WE ARE SO CLOSE!! #GlazersOut', another said 'YES YES YES', while a third simply retweeted the news with the word 'PLEASE'.
News of a possible sale of the club is not the only major story coming out of Old Trafford on Tuesday, with Manchester United confirming that Cristiano Ronaldo's contract there had been torn up by mutual consent.
One Twitter user commented on both stories, saying: 'Ronaldo getting the boot and this news on the same day??!!!', while someone else said: 'Ronaldo saving the club yet again' in response to the news of a possible sale.
A cynical reaction even believed that this news was made public at this time just to distract from the chaos surrounding Ronaldo's acrimonious exit from Manchester United.
Alongside a retweet of the news story, they added: 'An absolute nothing but distraction story'.
Manchester United's competitive fixtures are on hold for the World Cup, although they will quickly pile up afterward, as the Red Devils continue to pursue four trophies, starting with a Carabao Cup match against Burnley three days after the final in Qatar.

Sky said "Might be considering selling the club..." might doesn't means they want to or about to sell the club. It's all fake news

But but but, Ronaldo wasn’t playing so they must be worse right??? Or was everyone right that they’re better without him? 🤔

Getting rid of Ronaldo and the glazers at the same time would be a master stroke for United. As a city fan I don’t want to see it 😂

Ronaldo the Goat, he puts an end to his stay at Man U for an emerging United in future after sales
this is funny because the club fans have been fighting for this since last season. please don't give any credit to Ronaldo. everything he had said the fans already know

get out with this nonsense article you're writing. it pays to be humble no matter who you are. You are just supporting Ronaldo blindly instead of supporting the truth. It's just like a kid who makes money and starts disrespecting his parents because he thinks he has made it. always respect your roots.

This is what they should be happy about. In order not to blame Ronaldo, and to Ten hag, I will wait until next season for Man United to see that he is a failed manager trying to disrespect the goat. I'm glad my goat left Man united, He is welcome to Chelsea anytime .

Don't blame the manager for doing his job, point 37 years old players that are playing as a striker in all the big teams in Europe that didn't come up from the bench.
