Manchester United will return to Murrayfield this summer to play Rangers in a pre-season friendly.

The Red Devils played Lyon at the Edinburgh-based stadium as part of their preparation for the current season. The clash attracted almost 50,000 supporters.

This summer's fixture, scheduled for July 20, will be the first meeting of the two sides in more than a decade and will precede United's tour of the USA.

Erik ten Hag's side are set to face Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool when they are Stateside.

Murrayfield Stadium is predominantly used by Scotland's men's rugby team. It hosted both of the team's home Six Nations fixtures, including a 30-21 win over England last month.

United are unbeaten in four competitive fixtures against the Scottish Premiership outfit, boasting a record of three wins and a draw.

The sides last met in the Champions League group stage in 2010, when Wayne Rooney's strike earned United a 1-0 win at Ibrox.

Rangers, managed by Frenchman Philippe Clement, are battling to win just their second top-flight title in 12 years and sit a point behind archrivals Celtic with a game in hand.

They were dumped out of the Europa League in the last-16 after suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Benfica.
