Sergio Romero has reportedly bid farewell to staff at Manchester United as he edges closer to securing a move to Boca Juniors.
The Argentinian, who is out of contract this summer, has fallen down the pecking order at United and is expected to leave the club in this month's transfer window.
Romero, 33, has not trained with United since the turn of the year while local reports in Buenos Aires have claimed he is training in the Argentinian capital ahead of a likely move to Boca Juniors.
United have given Romero permission to train in Argentina but he will be expected back at Carrington if he is unable to arrange a permanent transfer away.
The Manchester Evenings News claim the goalkeeper, who had been omitted from United's Premier League and Champions League squads, has already said his goodbyes to members of staff at Carrington as he prepares to end his six-year association with the club.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to streamline his squad this month and Romero is set to be joined out the exit doors by compatriot Marcos Rojo - which would save the club a combined £150,000-a-week from their departures.
Rojo is reported to have already agreed a two-year deal with Boca but the Argentinian side are unwilling to pay a transfer fee, meaning he'll have to come to an agreement with United to tear up his contract.
His fellow international team-mate Romero is in a similar situation as it is not clear if Boca will be paying a fee to sign the keeper, who has been calling to have his contract terminated since October after being denied a move on deadline day back in the summer.
Romero has not played for the club since United's Europa League quarter-final win over Copenhagen on August 10 with Dean Henderson replacing him as second choice behind David de Gea in goal.
Solskjaer is hoping to offload several more fringe players in January, including Brandon Williams, Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard in a bid to bring the club's wage bill down,

1;A good soldier who never disappointed . 2;Always ready to accept back up role even when he was equal/better than the person who replaced him 3;The last keeper in goal last time we won a cup 4;Never highly praised but did his job anyway. 5;Let us just accept we treated this guy badly cause we got him for free. 6;Best back up goal keeper ever.

Romero is a better n more experienced goalkeeper than Henderson. For goalkeeper position, the older u are, the more experienced u are.. Henderson is still young. His time will come but not so soon. Here I think Man United had made a big mistake by preferring Henderson over Romero.. Who is with me?

Romero is a champion boy. For the last 4 years he is the only keeper to have lift a trophy for us. David didn't make its pass semifinal last year and now dean couldn't yesterday. And both of them replaced Romero. God bless u in your new endeavor Mr. clean sheet Romero.
