Manchester United's official website announced that Lammens will wear the Manchester United No. 1 jersey in the 2026/27 season.

The Belgian goalkeeper initially wore the No. 31 jersey when he joined the Red Devils from Antwerp last summer.

At that time, the owner of the No. 1 jersey was Bayindir, but the Turkish international has now been loaned to Celta Vigo for this season.

Lammens has secured his starting position since making his debut against Sunderland in early October; his outstanding performance in front of goal also earned him the Premier League "Transfer of the Season" award.

In his first season, he made 33 appearances, kept 8 clean sheets, and helped Carrick's team finish third in the top league.

Lammens will be the eighth long-term wearer of the number in the Premier League era; Schmeichel wore it from 1992 to 1999.

Subsequently, Mark Bosnich, Barthez, and Tim Howard successively took over this number, while Van der Sar and De Gea also wore the No. 1 jersey for a long time.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper is currently training with the team in the Republic of Ireland, preparing for Wednesday's match against Leeds United at Croke Park in Dublin.
