Man Utd, Spurs and Liverpool 'in race for Peterborough's Ricky-Jade Jones'

Peterborough are bracing themselves for January offers for their latest prized asset Ricky-Jade Jones.

Exciting teenage forward Jones has been in the sights of scouts from a string of Premier League clubs this season as he has emerged from League One Peterborough's academy.

The race to sign the 17-year-old is now hotting up ahead of the re-opening of the transfer window.

Jones has featured four times for Peterborough this season, scoring on his full debut against Cambridge and first FA Cup appearance against Stevenage, both this month.

Boss Darren Ferguson handed Jones his league debut against Burton on Saturday when talent spotters from Manchester United, Tottenham, Southampton and Burnley were watching on.

Liverpool, Leicester, Manchester City and Arsenal have also made checks on the lightning quick youngster who can play through the middle or out wide.

Spurs were the first club to test the waters with a £2million approach which was knocked back but Peterborough expect that to just be the start of an auction.

They have strengthened their bargaining position by tying Jones down on a new contract which he signed on his 17th birthday earlier this month.

Peterborough have a history of securing significant fees, especially from their attacking talents, having helped develop the likes of Dwight Gayle, Britt Assombalonga, Connor Washington, Jack Marriott and Craig Mackail-Smith before selling them on and Jones could be next.
