Man Utd chief scout 'watches Erling Haaland again' plus more transfer rumours

Manchester United sent their chief scout to watch Erling Haaland again on Tuesday night as RB Salzburg were beaten by Liverpool.

A report by Mail Online says Marcel Bout was in attendance for Salzburg's crunch Champions League game against the Premier League leaders.

Haaland was unable to inspire his side to a victory that would've sent them through to the competition's knockout phase at the expense of Liverpool.

The 19-year-old had scored in each of Salzburg's previous five group games at a rate of one goal every 47 minutes.

It is claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains hopeful United can conclude a deal for Haaland, despite interest in him from a host of other top European clubs.

Haaland, who played under Solskjaer at Molde, has plundered 28 goals in 22 appearances for Salzburg this season.

The report adds that United want to sign two central midfielders in January in a bid to boost their chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League.

A separate Mail report says those two central midfielders could be Saul Niguez and Donny van de Beek of Atletico Madrid and Ajax respectively.

It is claimed that Paul Pogba is likely to leave United before the start of next season, with Saul and Van de Beek earmarked to replace him.

Pogba's contract at United is due to expire at the end of the 2020-21 season but the club has the option to extend that deal by another 12 months, putting them in a strong negotiating position with potential buying clubs.
