Manchester United have agreed a deal with Atalanta to sign Ederson and the Brazilian will now undergo a medical whilst on international duty at the World Cup
Manchester United target Ederson will edge ever closer to his move this weekend with the midfielder set to undergo his medical whilst at the World Cup.
The Red Devils have already struck a deal with Atalanta for the Brazilian, which will see them pay a £34.9million fixed fee plus a further £3.8m in potential bonuses. Ederson has agreed a four-year contract which includes the option of an additional 12 months.
The small matter of the World Cup has affected the transfer process with Ederson being called up to the Brazil squad following an injury setback.
However, it would seem that Ederson's move to Manchester United is now finally on the verge of completion with the Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport reporting that the player is to undergo his medical in New York this Sunday.
Adding midfielders is a priority for the Red Devils this summer, who have enjoyed an impressive 2026 under Michael Carrick, returning to the Champions League. The club have just seen Casemiro depart with his contract expiring and are open to offer for Manuel Ugarte.
They prepared to spend big in a bid to land two new midfielders. Ederson would likely be complimented by someone already playing in the Premier League. United have been linked with the likes of Sandro Tonali, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton. They also have an interest in Elliot Anderson, but his preference remains a move to their neighbours Manchester City.
It is understood that United would also be keen to sign a left-back, a left-winger and possibly a striker. Should they go after any player currently in England camp Thomas Tuchel has said he would not stand in the way of any transfer business - provided it doesn't upset the group.
"If it is quietly done, privately done, done efficiently, we are always happy to help to have clarity around the player," said the German. "I think the best we can have is clarity. If anyone has the chance to complete a change of club and a transfer, we will not stand in the way."
