Manchester United are discussing an improvement and expansion of their Carrington training ground.
A review of the current area, which was upgraded with medical and sports science facilities in 2013, has been underway for some time.
Plans being mooted include additional full-size pitches that would increase the amount of room available to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first team and the academy sides.
Sprucing up academy buildings is also on the agenda as United continue to look at ways of refining the training ground.
Ideas will go through executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward before eventually being put to the club’s owners, the Glazers.
Land owners around the club’s training base will be consulted by United officials should plans begin to take shape.
It is believed that United are unlikely to build a mini-stadium, as their rivals Manchester City did at the City Football Academy.
The Under 23 team will continue to play at Leigh Sports Village, also used for Under 19 UEFA fixtures and where Casey Stoney’s women’s team are currently housed for training and matches.
