Manchester United would stand to lose out on significant sponsorship revenue through Adidas should they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season, by either not finishing fourth in the Premier League or failing to win the Europa League.
United signed their current kit deal with Adidas back in 2015 for £750million after switching from Nike, who had been the club's sponsors for 13 years.
The deal between United and Adidas has been paramount in terms of being one of the club's main sources of revenue.
However, there is a clause within Adidas' contract with United that states that if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side fail to secure Champions League football in two consecutive years the sportswear brand reduce their payment by 30 per cent.
United finished sixth last season meaning it is vital the club secure Champions League action for next season.
It is the same fate in which Man Utd were faced with back in the 2015/2016 season when the team finished in fifth place behind Tottenham Hotspur on goal difference.
As reported back in April , there are other financial factors as to why securing elite European football is so important for the club - TV revenue being one of many.
Under the old three-year cycle of broadcasting rights, from 2015/16 to 2017/18, the club earned only £2.5million more for winning the Europa League in 2017 than a last 16 Champions League finish last season from combined broadcasting and match day revenues - £48.5 million vs £45.9 million.
Fans have not witnessed Champions League success for over 10 years and will surely become even more impatient if the team do not even qualify to compete in the competition next year.
On paper, Manchester United have been handed an easier group in the Europa League this year and the last time they played in the competition, in 2017, they lifted the trophy, beating Ajax in the final.

Qualify for CL or lose Adidas sponsorship well tell that to our CEO who's adamant on selling players without a back up..Now our midfield look worse than ever..We did purchase the defenders but sold midfielder and a striker without a back up and now we are paying for that

The message is clear, hope Utd board , the coaching staff and players are fully aware of what's at stake , set out goals and their personal targets as players on the big stage , we shouldn't allow this chance to slip off , Utd is too big a club to miss out on UCL football next season ..

it's better to loose the sponship so the club with be at lost because Woodward is after business not improving the club Now they can concentrate on investing and signing good players so that the club can qualify for CL

Adidas is one of the best in make club jersey.. United will not make top 4 so I advice Adidas to leave now instead of waiting till end of season..

No Harm.., Bring Back NIKE ☑️. Always Fancy NIKE Over ADIDAS. ADIDAS Sucks Big Time At Designing Our Kits All These Years Since They Took Over.

yes we could lose because deadwood and company ate already the money so they wanted not to sign players so that they must lose and not Adidas know about it they don't care anymore if they knew that the team can lose the sponsorship of Adidas they could sign more good players they team will become a miki mouse team now or what.
