Germany midfielder Kroos came close to joining United in 2013 before moving to Madrid a year later
Manchester United look set to finally secure a deal for Toni Kroos after the odds on the Real Madrid midfielder heading to Old Trafford shortened dramatically.
Kroos was on the verge of joining United in 2013 only for the deal to fall through. The Germany international then opted to joined Real 12 months later.
But if the odds being offered by Ladbrokes on the transfer are anything to go by then the 29-year-old could soon be playing in the Premier League.
Real Madrid are reportedly keen to add a midfielder to their ranks this summer - with Paul Pogba, Miralem Pjanic and N'Golo Kante all reported to be interesting the Bernabeu outfit.
That would pave the way for Kroos to leave the Spanish capital, and bookmakers Ladbrokes have cut the odds on him swapping Madrid for Manchester to just 7/4 from 5/1.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "It looks as though Kroos may finally jump ships with a mega-money move to Manchester potentially on the cards."
Kroos has scored just one goal in 33 appearances for Los Blancos this season and Real are reportedly ready to sanction his exit as returning boss Zinedine Zidane embarks on a squad overhaul.
Over the weekend it was claimed that Real had told United that the German midfielder would be available for £50million.
World Cup-winner Kroos won his 92nd cap for Germany on Sunday night as Nico Schulz's late goal secured a 3-2 Euro 2020 qualifying win in Holland.
Kroos has previously spoken of his admiration for the Premier League and his desire to play in England's top-flight.
He has enjoyed a trophy-laden spell in Spain, winning three successive Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018, as well as one La Liga title.
Should he make the move to Old Trafford he would hope to make more of an impact that former Bayern Munich teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger who endured an injury-plagued 18 months at United.
