Inter Milan will need Manchester United to agree to a big pay-off for Romelu Lukaku if they are to sign the Belgian striker, according to The Mirror.
Lukaku is concerned that his first-team opportunities will be limited at Old Trafford next season, and is keen to join up with new manager Antonio Conte in Italy.
However, Inter are unable to match his £195,000-a-week wages and the £75million fee wanted by Man United as they aim to recoup what they paid Everton in 2017.
The only hope of completing the move is for Manchester United to pay a proportion of Lukaku's wages and cut their asking price.
The ex-Chelsea man will earn a £6m basic wage and £2.4m in loyalty bonus plus image rights worth £1.75m, £38,000-a-week less than last season after his club's failure to reach the Champions League.
Inter have only just had sanctions ended after Financial Fair Play violations in 2015 and are wary of splurging big money on the striker.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already made clear his desire to offload up to 14 first-teamers from his squad to make room for fresh talent.
Marcus Rashford is also likely to be first-choice striker and there are concerns Lukaku will not fit the fluid and fast attacking approach Solskjaer wants to implement.

Lukaku shouldn’t be sold he’s a great player he just needs good players around him if you’ve seen him in Belgium 🇧🇪 he’s a beast when hazard and KDB provide for him he’s a good striker selling I think would be a mistake and keeping Ashley young jones smalling and this other lazy players who doesn’t even care about the club and for me when lukaku plays he looks like he cares unlike others.
