Manchester United supporters were left in disbelief after the unfortunate Harry Maguire converted an own-goal in the 93rd minute of their Europa League clash with Sevilla.
The England defender was left helpless as he was hit in the side of the head by Yousef En-Nesyri's header, diverting the ball in the wrong direction and past David De Gea into the United net.
Erik ten Hag's held a two goal advantage for the majority of the game after Marcel Sabitzer scored two goals within seven minutes with 21 minutes on the clock.
However, an own goal from Tyrell Malacia after 84 minutes halved the deficit before Maguire turned in a second to draw the scores level on the night.
Many supporters on social media believe you 'can't even blame Maguire' for the second own goal as he had little time to react to the ball that was about to hit him.
Some fans believe that the former Leicester City centre-back was 'unlucky' and 'unfortunate' while thought that the late equaliser was 'not his fault.'
One fan added: 'Maguire is the most unlucky footballer on Earth. It always has to be him.'
Another wrote: 'Can't even blame Maguire for that it's just unfortunate and a shame it had to be him.'
A third fan claimed: 'I think Maguire is cursed cuz that own goal is out of his control.'
During the post-match analysis on BT Sport, pundit for the evening Owen Hargreaves told viewers that En-Nesyri's initial effort 'was going so far wide.'
The former United and Bayern Munich midfielder was in agreement with the majority of supporters who believe that Maguire was not at fault for the late own goal.
Hargreaves said: 'The second own goal is so difficult for Harry, this could go anywhere and ends up in the back of the net.
'It was going so far wide it is absolute unbelievable. There is a nothing Harry can do. It is so unlucky for Harry.'
Paul Scholes was also on punditry duty on Thursday evening and believed that complacency in the second half was a major factor in United's downfall against Sevilla.
He told BT: 'When you are in a quarter-final like that, this is the time to win the game. That should have been three, four, five nil against that opposition.
'It is almost as if they thought it was too easy, a stroll in the park. You can’t do that in Europe and against Sevilla, we know their record.'
'Sevilla weren’t great in the first half and United were playing so well, you were thinking this is three, four, five and the end of the game tonight. The second half was a complete disaster.'
