Cristiano Ronaldo's impact on his return to Manchester United seems to be as large in the dressing room as among the fans as Jesse Lingard adapted the Portuguese's trademark 'siu' celebration when scoring for England.

Lingard struck home for England in their World Cup qualifier against Andorra on Sunday and celebrated with his own version of Ronaldo's renowned leap in front of the fans but added his trademark JL finger signature as he landed.

Red Devils' fans online went wild and immediately picked Lingard's tribute to returning hero Ronaldo, who became the top goal-scorer in men's international football history earlier this week.

'Jesse Lingard doing Ronaldo’s iconic celebration,' wrote one United fan. 'His influence is unmatched,' followed by a goat emoji.

'Jesse Lingard doing the Ronaldo celebration is my jam,' said another Twitter user.

Gilbert AD wrote:' Lingard dropped the siuuu celebration. Ronaldo influence in effect already.'

Ronaldo's celebration is known by fans worldwide and consists of him leaping, turning in mid-air while bellowing 'siuuu' and landing feet spread.

Lingard has fallen down the pecking order of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's midfield but after a stellar loan period at West Ham last season he nearly won a place in Gareth Southgate's Euro 2020 squad.

There were many question marks over Lingard's future at Old Trafford as the Hammers were keen to make the loan a permanent deal this summer, but United refused and Solskjaer has reintegrated Lingard into his squad.

With Ronaldo's arrival, observers have speculated that Lingard will just be a fringe player at United when he could be a first-team regular elsewhere.
