Man Utd fans react to anniversary of Sir Alex Ferguson taking charge

On this day 32 years ago, Sir Alex Ferguson took charge of Manchester United.

November 6, 1986 marked the start of a hugely successful era for Manchester United, wherein they won 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups, and two Champions League trophies.

In response to a tweet marking the occasion by the Manchester United Twitter account, fans have been yearning for the good old days.

United haven't won the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson's last season in charge in 2013. Since then, they've only won the FA Cup once, the League Cup once, and the Europa League once.

'Bring Him Back!' Wrote one Twitter user, while others also called for him to return to his former post, even if it's only just for one season.

Another said that Ferguson is the 'greatest manager of all time,' and someone else commented that United have 'never been the same since the Master left his post.'

One person even asked if November 6 could be made into a Bank Holiday in Sir Alex Ferguson's honour.

Currently Manchester United are seventh in the table, behind Bournemouth on goal difference and well off the pace of their usual main rivals.

Jose Mourinho has come under fire for United's lacklustre performances, as have a number of their high profile signings, such as Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez, and Romelu Lukaku.

Ferguson left United in 2013 after 808 Premier League games in charge of the club. He won 527, drew 167, and lost just 114 of those games, with a win rate of 65%.

During that time United scored 1620 goals, and only conceded 697. Fans have been unfavourably comparing their glory days to the current crop of goal-starved forwards.
