Man Utd legend Roy Keane pays emotional tribute after his dog Jet dies

Roy Keane has shared an emotional tribute after confirming the death of his dog Jet on social media.

The former Manchester United captain shared a post on Instagram on Sunday evening.

'Thanks Jet for being so beautiful and loyal to our family,' Keane wrote.

'We will miss you.'

Keane's post included a series of photos and videos of his beloved German Shepherd.

Jet had last year featured alongside Keane in an advertising campaign when the former Man United star modelled for adidas.

Keane and Jet were seen on a walk as part of a video to launch the campaign.

The beloved family dog has also been a regular feature of Keane's social media activity.

The former midfield general turned pundit had launched his Instagram account with a photo of Jet, writing 'A man’s best friend'.

Keane had previously spoken about his love of dogs in an episode of The Overlap with Gary Neville.

'You have a routine and you have to look after them. Walk them. I went out this morning before I came here,' Keane said.

'You have a routine with your dogs. I've always had dogs, going back when I was growing up in Ireland we always had dogs in the house.

'It gives you good security. It's good for a bit of exercise. Love them to bits. I've got two dogs.

'But mine are getting a bit old now and a bit frail and that's always the worry that something will happen to them.'

Keane had previously revealed he had been affected by the death of his Labrador retriever Triggs back in 2012.

Triggs had become famous in 2002 after Keane had gone for a walk with his dog, shortly after returning home from the Republic of Ireland's pre-tournament training camp ahead of the World Cup.

Keane had left the camp in Saipan after a row with manager Mick McCarthy.

The 52-year-old is also a long-term ambassador of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.
