Barcelona have doubts over signing Antoine Griezmann this summer - handing Manchester United a boost in their pursuit of the Atletico Madrid star.
Griezmann was linked with a move to the Nou Camp last summer but after protracted speculation, he opted to remain at the Wanda Metropolitano.
However 12 months on the France forward has now informed the club he wishes to leave this summer after again being linked with Barcelona .
It was seen as a foregone conclusion that Griezmann would indeed make the switch to his La Liga rivals but the latest reports suggest that may not be the case.
The Independent has claimed that key figures at Barca have doubts about whether Griezmann is the right fit for the club.
Barca would have to fork out £108million to activate his release clause and prise him away from Atletico, and they are reluctant to do so.
That could had the advantage to United, who have renewed their interest in their one-time target following this latest development.
They could be helped by the fact that Griezmann’s brother is an avid United support, while the forward has forged a close relationship with current United star Paul Pogba.
United’s fierce rivals Manchester City , another team who could perhaps afford his price tag, have no interest in bringing him to the Etihad.
Real Madrid have other targets, while Juventus currently don’t have the funds to reach Atletico’s expectations.
Paris Saint-Germain are another of Europe’s richest clubs, and have no plans to show interest in the 28-year-old.
That could mean United are now the frontrunners, and it would be the statement signing they’re looking for as they look to bounce back from a miserable season.

As opposed to a younger player who has potential? I say signing that kind of player is a far bigger risk than buying the finished product for £100m+. Barring serious injuries Griezmann guarantees you at least a couple years of world class.

I don't understand how this Griezmann transfer ever made sense in the first place. same here. seemed like little more than an attempt to put one over on real and have a shiny new toy to display, but this transfer never made much sense to me from a practical standpoint. don't get me wrong, griezmann is amazing and would make any squad better, but a more like-for-like replacement for suarez seems like a more logical move to me.
