MANCHESTER UNITED slipped to a 12th defeat in the Premier League with Rasmus Hojlund coming under fire again.
Andre Onana was up to his usual poor shot-collecting mishaps, United were wide open in midfield at times and nobody could put the ball in the back of the net when the chances did come.
Ruben Amorim - who was forced to put eight untried teenagers on the bench - has now lost eight of his last 14 Prem games as United look over their shoulders at those scrapping away from relegation.
The Red Devils' makeshift attack lacked chemistry and missed a trio of chances in 30 seconds - just before James Maddison's tap-in opener.
In the end, United were beaten by Spurs - with the returning Guglielmo Vicario pulling out several excellent saves in the second half - for the third time this season.
Andre Onana - 3
United can't do anything with him between the sticks. Can't be trusted to collect anything.
His opposite number Vicario showed him a thing or two after returning for the first time since Spurs thrashed Man City in November.
At fault for the first goal when he palmed out a relatively weak bouncing shot into Maddison's path in the 13th minute.
Noussair Mazraoui - 5
An OK performance. Clever link-up play with Zirkzee but couldn't get hold of Spence down the left-hand side.
Pulled out an excellent cross for the Dutchman's headed chance late-on.
Matthijs de Ligt - 6
His clearance stopped an obvious 2-0 before the half-an-hour mark.
Harry Maguire - 5
A mixed bag. Sent a long ball over the top for Hojlund's chance in opening 10 minutes and went on a few attacking runs himself in the first half.
Did well to stop Dejan Kulusevski from having a go at the edge of the box. But bizarrely stopped in his tracks when a cross came flying into Son Heung-min later on.
Diogo Dalot - 6
A difficult afternoon for the Portugal international as Son and Djed Spence left him for dead a few times.
Hesitated when asked to shoot from five yards to make it 1-0 but helped Onana out with some clearances too.
Patrick Dorgu - 4
A Prem debut to forget. He was almost invisible from the left-hand side. And lacked quality when asked to get involved more in the second half.
Was stupidly caught offside with Bruno Fernandes offloading a stunning cross pitch pass and booked late-on for fouling Brennan Johnson albeit after a poor Onana throw.
Casemiro - 5
Looked every bit a player that hasn't played Premier League football for two months. Unsurprisingly booked for a late one on Son.
Curiously dropped to the turf asking for a free-kick when nobody touched him. Was forced to play 91 minutes with eight teenagers on the bench. A difficult afternoon, indeed.
Bruno Fernandes - 5
Interceptions and breaking up play is not a part of the captain's game. An uncharacteristically poor cross left United open on the counter.
Did get back to stop Son from having a shot at Onana on the hour mark and started ticking in attack in the final 20 minutes.
Alejandro Garnacho - 4
Looked shaky and cut a frustrated figure after blazing over an absolute SITTER from 10 yards to level the scores.
A bit of a shocker and looked a completely different player to the one who got United into the fifth-round of the FA Cup last week.
Woke up a bit in the second half as Vicario kept him at bay with several superb stops. But the 20-year-old is clearly better off the bench.
Joshua Zirkzee - 6
The best of a desperately poor front three. There's a street player in there and he's great with his touches at times.
But curled wide from 23 yards, stuck a header wide in the 70th minute and kicked an air shot in the final five minutes.
Rasmus Hojlund - 3
Is Hojlund the worst No 9 in United's recent history?
The young Dane, who was unlucky to have a chance saved by Vicario, was second best in every loose ball and kept losing possession.
He was even caught offside when Fernandes flicked on an Onana goal-kick in the first half - how often do you see that happen?
SUBS
Chido Obi-Martin (90+1 for Casemiro) - N/A
The academy sensation from Arsenal was handed his first United minutes in the final embers.
The 17-year-old was one of eight teens with ZERO Prem minutes named to the matchday squad.

Why wouldn’t the coach change the formation Try another formation that’s how the other big coaches do and at the end they come out with the best formation
what is Wilcox the Technical director of football doing he must suppose to intervene and tell Amorim to change formation

amorim also the worst manager in history of m.united

It's easy to put the blame on the striker when he hardly gets goal scoring chances as a result of the lack of creativity.

Rasmus Hujlund and Joshua Zirkzee can not perform whenever one signed to play one top. Man utd attacking line are found good when two front men play together but rather unseen by the Managers Ten Hag and Amorim

The way Man United and it’s supporters bragged when they bought Hoijlund 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hardly his fault now when he never gets put through, name a striker in football that scores loads of goals but gets put through as lil as hojlund does just curious? Bet you can't name anyone.

Better to start with Chido then Hojlund. Amorin should drop Onana, Dalot, Casemiro, Hojlund irrespective of their stature. Bruno & Zirkzee as AM. Garnacho should always be a super sub coming around the hour mark. Dorgu & Mazraoui should be our wingers. Ugarte & Toby Collyer our DM, Bayindir between sticks, De ligt, Maguire & Yoro our Back 3.
Maguire is shit, and having 3 bad defenders together that are all in bad form just makes things worse.

We have the worse squad in history. Ruben was spot on about that. Says it how it is the way it should be, make players leave by calling them bad let them hear the truth

Noone knows mate, but finally this season is clear maybe the blind fans will wake up, the players aren't good enough for Ruben system. I'd sell everyone bar amad, bruno, ugarte and mazauri. Only players with any sort of passion.

Hojlund been the worse N0. 9 in club history. Sell him
Are wingbacks, wingers, midfielders and defence have been a disgrace to this club. Are Wingers miss sitters, can't pass or cross. Wingbacks that can't defend or go forward, midfielders that can't defend or pass and the defence has to be the worse we ever had. Maguire is "playing out of his skin" according to some fans yet he's been terrible every game. onana trys his best every game to concede or assist the opposition. Shambles of a club. Ten hag was the right man, Ruben was silly for taking this job.

i believe its the manager fault.. failing to make use of the player strength instead wanting everybody to follow his style of formation..
Agreed, he should change formation until he gets the players for his system. Can't have 3 at the back when all 3 are bad at defending, can't have 2 midfielders that do all the running when the rest does nothing, can't have wing backs that can't cross, go forward or defend and we definitely shouldn't use a striker since we have no playmakers to put him through. As a united fan all my life, striker was always that position you would kill to play in for united, now it's a position you would never want to play.

Hojlund is such a good finisher but the rest of how does he shine if the rest of players are not passing the ball to him especially Garnacho even when he has the chance ,he would rather waste it than pass for him to score, come on the guy can't play alone

i think the problem is with the couch why he's keep on forcing players to play that formation of three defense..while they are not used to that back three defense...I think he's killing them slowly..by forcing them to do things they have no idea about..maybe he must shift to the back four is more favourable for them
