The Glazer family is yet to accept an offer for the purchase of Manchester United but Sheikh Jassim's bid is preferred by supporters

Manchester United's takeover saga continues to dominate the headlines in the football world. The sale of the club by the Glazers family has seemed to drag on for months now, leaving supporters frustrated.

Last week, it was reported that the family had decided to take the club off the market after bidders failed to reach their £10billion asking price. The Glazers are said to only be open to offers for either 100 percent of the club or a partial sale that leaves them with a sizeable stake.

Jassim has committed an extra £790million ($1billion) of investment on top of his £3.9billion ($5bn) bid. Supporters have been left excited over his investment in the club, but how does his fortunes compare to the rest of the Premier League?

Ratcliffe's rival for Man United is a relatively unknown entity. A member of the Qatari royal family, Sheikh Jassim's father is involved in the running of Paris Saint-Germain, though he has ensured that he is separate to his father's business dealings as UEFA rules dictate that an individual cannot own more than one club in the same competition.

Sheikh Jassim is a banker and is chair of the Qatar Islamic Bank, one of the biggest banks in the Middle East. However, according to Forbes, he doesn't have a specific value but his father, Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, does - £892million ($1.2bn). Compared to the rest of the Premier League, that figure is rather low.

Man City's Sheikh Mansour also boasts a higher net worth than Sheikh Jassim, with his perceived worth around £13.3billion ($16.8bn). While their individual wealth is not comparable, it's understood that Sheikh Jassim's family have a combined wealth of £275billion.
