Manchester United are prepared to wait before offering 17-year-old Mason Greenwood a bumper new contract.
According to The Sun, United will hold off getting the striker to pen a new long-term deal after seeing players such as Adnan Januzaj and Federico Macheda plateau after signing big-money contract.
The Sun cite a source as saying: 'We want to send a clear message after some previous mistakes. Contracts were handed out and then progress faltered and it was a difficult situation.
“The club want to keep his feet on the ground and focused.'
Greenwood became United's youngest ever Premier League starter when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed him his full United debut in the 2-0 defeat by Cardiff on the last day of the season.

Can someone tell me why we are patient over offering Greenwood a contract, yet we offer the likes of Jones a 5 year deal and Young a 1 year extension? That really makes sense😡
