Manchester United still don't know who their manager will be next season, but that isn't stopping the Red Devils from attacking the transfer market.
Having made appointments in other key positions at Old Trafford such as incoming CEO Omar Berrada and technical director Jason Wilcox, United are preparing for a busy window under either incumbent boss Erik ten Hag or a new manager.
Areas which are being targeted include centre-back, central midfield and centre forward, suggesting that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS colleagues want to build a new spine of the team. No wonder, then, a promising striker has just emerged as a new 'primary target'.
Here's a round-up of the latest transfer news from Old Trafford.
United to battle Arsenal for Zirkzee
Manchester United have made Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee a 'primary target' this summer amid interest from Arsenal. The 22-year-old Dutchman scored 11 goals in 34 Serie A matches in the season just finished to help surprise package Bologna qualify for the Champions League.
Zirkzee, formerly of Bayern Munich, is rumoured to have a release clause worth £34million. Arsenal have long been tipped to sign the 6ft 3in forward but according to Sky Sports, United are now serious about bringing Zirkzee to Old Trafford, while AC Milan are also keen.
Youngster to join Monza after rejecting offer
Staying in Italy and Manchester United academy graduate Omari Forson will join Monza when his contract expires at the end of this month. Forson, 19, rejected the chance to stay at United after six months of negotiations and he'll now sign a four-year deal with the Serie A outfit.
The London-born forward was given his full debut by Erik ten Hag in February, playing just under an hour of the Red Devils' 2-1 loss at home to Fulham in the Premier League. Forson wants more game time next season and hopes to continue the trend of English talents who've found success in Italy.
Toney and David among alternative striker targets
Joining Joshua Zirkzee on Manchester United's list of striker targets are Brentford talisman Ivan Toney and Lille's Jonathan David. ESPN claim that the trio are all being assessed by the Red Devils, who want to replace Anthony Martial with another No.9 who can challenge Rasmus Hojlund for the starting role.
Toney, 28, made it into England's final 26-man squad for Euro 2024, while David will represent Canada at the Copa America. The 24-year-old has been linked with leaving Lille for multiple transfer windows and like Toney has entered the final 12 months of his contract, putting pressure on his club to sell.

David Is Not Cheap, What Are You On? 🤔😂
Jonathan will be cheap and doesn't want to sign a new contract. Lille will ask a certain amount because he has no release clause but up to Utd negotiations to get him at cheap price. if they dont want, he will be free agent next summer. Another reason he will be cheap is that there is no queue of clubs looking for him unlike Zirzkee

Jonathan David and Youssef En-Nesri are both better and cheaper than Zirkzee and both have 12 months remaining on their respective contracts

We need two strikers if you ask me Johnathan David and probably this guy because of to tooneys age I’m thinking but him in the squad he can produce one thing we have seen from him in lesser teams so given the bigger stage.

Manchester United will remain as aslow club in decision-making even if they new CEO, new ownership , new technical director, they will never decide quickly , they monitor thousands of players but at the end they bring flops signing on the last day. they're just not serious. if need a player who's good and you know even other clubs are monitoring him you need act like you really need that player not just in rumors.
