Manchester United are making huge progress in the summer transfer window ahead of the start of the Premier League season.
United have now completed four transfers, with Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui arriving for a combined fee of £145.5million. But they are not done yet, with the INEOS ownership targeting more players to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s squad while also looking to offload others.
Perennial United transfer target Frenkie de Jong is back on the radar, with United desperate to add a central midfielder to the mix before the window closes on August 31, while another striker is also on the wishlist. In order to comply with profit and sustainability rules, United will need to sell more players after Aaron Wan-Bissaka completed his £15m exit to West Ham.
With all of that in mind, here are the latest headlines involving United ahead of their Premier League opener against Fulham on Friday night at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag tried to patch things up with Jadon Sancho after he returned from his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, in case he stayed for the 2024/25 season, but it was always clear he would ideally like to offload the winger. That eventuality now looks like a real possibility.
The Independent reports that Paris Saint-Germain remain in talks over Sancho after it became clear that he was a more feasible target than Marcus Rashford. Unlike most clubs, PSG could pay Sancho’s £250,000-a-week wages and Sancho himself is keen on the move – and it gets even better for United.
United made PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte a transfer priority earlier this summer and the French side are ready to do business as part of a swap deal. Ugarte is valued at £51m – the fee PSG paid last summer for the Uruguay international – but he has been frozen out of Luis Enrique’s squad to speed up his exit.
Scott McTominay remains the subject of plenty of interest, but United are standing firm in their stance for now. Fulham have already seen bids rejected for the Scotland international and now Napoli have seen a loan bid pushed back by United.
Sky Italia reports that the Serie A giants made an offer for the 27-year-old midfielder but United are only interested in a permanent sale. Fulham, Everton, Brentford, Galatasaray and Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce have also been credited with interest.
His future could well depend on Ugarte, with United only needing to sell if they are successful in landing a new midfielder.
Ivan Toney has been stuck at Brentford this summer, with his dream transfer yet to materialise – but that could simply be down to the approach of interested parties.
Brentford are demanding £60m to sell Toney, despite him only having a year left on his contract. That is too much for United and Chelsea, who are interested, but plan to bide their time to improve their chances of striking a deal.
Toney wants to leave Brentford and the Independent reports that United and Chelsea may wait until late in the window in an attempt to force Brentford's hand. The window closes on August 31, so there’s still plenty of time to strike a deal.

Lindeflop is wanted by Mourinho in Turkey which is very possible to happen, Sancho is getting looked at by psg, hopefully he goes there most likely psg won't lower the standards by going for such a bad talent Sancho but it's a possibility, Maguire is most likely gonna get kept but should be sold, would have if yaro didn't get injured. Mctominay is getting looked at by clubs such as Fulham. Many deals that can happen on the deadline day at the end of the month.
Will you blame United for not selling or blame these clubs for not bidding? Mourinho's link was like 3 centuries ago. Who much did PSG bid for Sancho? There's nothing concrete here fam. They haven't approached. As a matter of fact, INEOS put all players up for sale except, Garnacho, Kobe and obviously, Bruno. Even Licha is up for sale. But there won't be panic sales.
