Man Utd transfer news: Juventus open Sancho talks as PSG drop Manuel Ugarte hint

There is now less than a week remaining of the summer transfer window and Manchester United's eyes are firmly on signing Manuel Ugarte.

Ugarte is free to leave PSG this summer, though the French giants are refusing to budge on their £51million valuation. United are keen to complete a deal for the midfielder, though they are also now focusing on outgoings.

At the top of the list of those heading out the exit door is Jadon Sancho, who does not appear to be in Erik ten Hag's plans. Juventus are the latest team to launch a move for the attacker, with PSG having also considered signing the former England international.

The news of those talks come as Gary Neville gave his seal of approval to the signing of Matthijs de Ligt, who arrived at Old Trafford earlier this summer. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Manchester United transfer news.

Juve open Sancho talks

Juventus have opened talks over a move for Jadon Sancho, with Manchester United keen to move him on. Sancho was left out of the squad for the opening Premier League game of the season and had been linked with joining PSG.

But according to The Athletic, Juventus have now taken pole position in the race to sign the winger. The Serie A giants are in talks over a deal, though finding an agreement looks likely to prove difficult, with United holding out for a fee of £40m.

They are also unlikely to sanction another loan move, though that is exactly what Juve want to do. The Turin side have made him a top target and there is a sense United may agree to a loan deal if Juve agree full coverage of Sancho’s salary, plus a loan fee and an obligation to sign him permanently at the end of the loan.

Neville hails De Ligt move

United legend Gary Neville has topped Matthijs de Ligt to be the signing of the season. The Dutchman arrived just ahead of the win over Fulham, playing the final nine minutes of that match.

De Ligt is expected to quickly become a starter under Erik ten Hag once he settles in. And Neville believes he could go on to become a key player for United, so much so he can be the star signing of the summer.

Neville told Sky Sports: “I would like to think it’s going to be De Ligt. I would like to think De Ligt is going to be the best signing. I think these two (De Ligt and Neto) are going to have the most transformative impact on their teams. United have to go from eighth up to third or fourth, and Chelsea have to go from fifth.”

PSG drop Ugarte hint

PSG have once again left Manuel Ugarte out of their squad for Friday's clash against Montpellier. Ugarte also missed their opening day win over Le Harve, with the French giants keen to see the midfielder leave.

United are his leading suitors, though talks remain ongoing with the two sides yet to reach an agreement over a fee. Boss Luis Enrique has made no secret of the fact that Ugarte is no longer in his plans, just a year after the Uruguayan arrived.

Enrique said PSG plan to "let go those we no longer count on." He added: "We have no priority, we already have a team that has been champion, we are watching the transfer window, we are looking to see if a player appears at a normal price but we will not make excessive expenditure."
